After a disappointing time in Saudi Arabia, Neymar returned to his old club Santos with the hope of finding himself again and qualifying for the 2026 World Cup. However, at the age of 33, the "little Pele" is no longer himself.

According to statistics, Neymar has only played 4 matches in the Brazilian national championship (2 times as a starter, 2 times as a substitute) with Santos this season but has not left an impression. Not only that, in the latest match against Botafogo, Neymar caused great disappointment to the home crowd at Vila Belmiro stadium.
The Brazilian striker was sent off for a ridiculous red card. First, Neymar received a yellow card in the 45+3 minute for a rough foul. In the 76th minute, he received a second yellow card for a handball.
Notably, a few minutes after losing a man, Santos conceded the only goal in the 86th minute. This result caused Neymar's club to suffer a 0-1 defeat at home against Botafogo.
Since returning to Santos, Neymar has not left a big enough mark. Not only that, this player has suffered two muscle injuries and only plays occasionally. This puts "little Pele" at great risk of not being re-signed by Santos after his contract expires at the end of the season (June 30).

Santos fans were fed up with Neymar’s poor performance. They booed the striker after he received a red card. On social media, many fans called for Neymar to retire to avoid affecting Santos.
Neymar was not called up by coach Ancelotti to the Brazilian national team's training camp in June. That makes the player's return to the national team and his hope of participating in the 2026 World Cup even more distant.
Currently, Santos is ranked 18th out of 20 teams in the Brazilian national championship with 8 points after 11 matches. They are in the red light group and 2 points less than the safe zone.
