Recently, Ho Chi Minh City Dermatology Hospital has received and treated many cases of patients with severe cosmetic complications, stemming from fat-dissolving injections and liposuction.
The first case was a 32-year-old female patient (living in Ho Chi Minh City) who came to the clinic with many inflamed and pus-filled spots on her abdomen and biceps. The patient said that 6 months ago she went to a spa to get injections to dissolve fat in her biceps.
About a month later, the injection site began to hurt, swell, and discharge cloudy yellow pus.

The woman was prescribed antibiotics and anti-inflammatory drugs by the spa for 2 months, but the swelling, redness, and pus did not go away. Not stopping there, the patient continued to come to this facility for abdominal rejuvenation injections, leading to severe body deformation.
At Ho Chi Minh City Dermatology Hospital, after examination, doctors diagnosed the patient with multiple skin abscesses after fat dissolving and rejuvenation injections, requiring long-term treatment.
Similarly, a 49-year-old female patient (living in Ho Chi Minh City) also had an abscess 2 months after fat-dissolving injections. The patient came to the hospital with many red, inflamed, and pus-filled spots on her abdomen, hips, and thighs.
The patient told the doctor that he saw the beauty salon advertising on social media that he would have "an instant body shape after just one super fat-burning treatment" so he contacted and came here.
After being advised by the staff that the injection process takes 45 minutes, is painless, only requires anesthetic application and is effective in eliminating fat after 5-7 days to help slim the body, the patient agreed to spend more than 10 million VND to do it.

But a week later, the patient experienced serious complications. The beautician instructed her to buy antibiotics to take herself, but the situation did not improve.
Another case is a 31-year-old woman who came to the hospital because of a non-healing skin ulcer on her abdomen. The patient said that she had previously gone to a cosmetic facility for liposuction, skin tightening, and waist tightening. Just one day after the procedure, the patient’s abdominal skin developed blisters at the surgical wound, which then burst and did not heal.
Doctors diagnosed the patient with postoperative infectious dermatitis.
Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Hieu Liem, Department of Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery, Ho Chi Minh City Dermatology Hospital, said that according to the regulations of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health , each liposuction area will have its own regulations on the facility that can perform it (clinic or hospital), as well as the appropriate anesthesia method (local anesthesia, pre-anesthesia or endotracheal anesthesia).
Many people have suffered accidents due to liposuction and fat dissolving injections at facilities that do not meet medical conditions, causing infection, necrosis, and seriously affecting health.

Therefore, in addition to people's vigilance, investing in modern equipment and a team of good professionals is one of the solutions that contributes to making cosmetic surgery safe, effective, and sustainable for the community.
