After the failure of the counteroffensive in the Zaporozhye region, the positions on the Ukrainian front line changed significantly.
Ukrainian forces are currently conducting another offensive in the Kherson region in an attempt to gain a foothold on the eastern bank of the Dnieper River. Russian forces, in turn, continue to penetrate Ukrainian defenses around Avdeevka, forcing Kiev to transfer large amounts of troops and supplies from other regions to the area.
In recent days, the Ukrainian army has failed to make significant advances on the east bank of the Dnieper. Ukrainian units are holding the central part of the village of Krynki. They are also continuing their efforts to cross the river to create another bridgehead near the village of Poima. Ukrainian troops remain present near the Antonovsky road and rail bridge.
Russia has carried out several fierce attacks in recent days.
The ongoing Ukrainian offensive is aimed at gaining control of about 30 kilometers of the front. Despite Russia’s efforts, the Ukrainian military is still trying to bring in reinforcements, including some heavy military equipment. However, the number of armored vehicles delivered so far appears to be too small to carry out Ukraine’s plans. In addition, Russian artillery and aviation are attacking Ukrainian supply lines on both the west coast and the islands.
Ukrainian authorities said that on November 6 alone, 87 Russian heavy FAB bombs with adjustment modules hit multiple targets in the Kherson region. According to SF , this is a record number so far.
Meanwhile, Russian troops are besieging Avdeevka, one of Ukraine's most fortified strongholds in Donbas.
Fighting is ongoing in several places in the city of Avdeevka. In the northern suburbs, battles are taking place at the filtration station. In the east, Russian forces have broken through and gained a foothold on the Donetsk Ring Road in the forest area.
According to recent reports, Russian troops have attacked Ukrainian positions in the Khimik sub-district, south of the city. Battles have been reported at the Palace of Culture on the outskirts of the city. Also in recent days, Russian troops have approached the village of Severnoye, but the offensive has not yet begun.
Fighting is fierce in many places on the front line.
The Ukrainian army is moving in reserves and launching a counter-offensive north of Avdeevka, with Russian forces forced to retreat from part of the railway line. Fierce fighting is still ongoing as the Ukrainian command tries its best to prevent a siege of the city.
