Paragliding over the golden rice fields of Mu Cang Chai.

Ranked first among the most surreal destinations by the travel website Wanderlust Storytellers , Mu Cang Chai ( Yen Bai province), with its magnificent terraced rice fields, always captivates visitors every rice harvest season.

Rice paddies, horseshoe-shaped fields, raspberry-shaped hills… – the emerald green of the terraced rice paddies at the most beautiful rice-ripening viewing spots in Mu Cang Chai is gradually giving way to golden rice. Located about 120km from Ha Giang City, the terraced rice fields in Hoang Su Phi resemble a fairytale landscape. In early September, the rice paddies in this high-altitude region of Northeast Vietnam begin to don a new coat of vibrant autumn colors.

The terraced rice fields in Hoang Su Phi are located in six communes: Ban Luoc, San Sa Ho, Ban Phung, Ho Thau, Nam Ty, and Thong Nguyen. Among them, Ban Phung is considered the most beautiful. Unlike Mu Cang Chai (Yen Bai), the terraced rice fields here are nestled among the houses of the Mong people.

Visiting Hoang Su Phi this season, tourists can also explore the Suoi Thau grassland, conquer the Chieu Lau Thi peak, or discover the 200-year-old ancient market.

Hunting for breathtakingly beautiful ripening rice fields in Sa Pa.

Ta Van, Y Linh Ho, or Nam Cang… everywhere in Sa Pa, the rice paddies have begun to bend, waiting for the golden autumn sun. Not only captivating tourists with its cool weather and fresh air, the rice harvest season is also a major plus, helping Sa Pa win the hearts of visitors during the September 2nd holiday.

To fully enjoy the flavor of Sa Pa during the rice harvest season, rent a motorbike and explore the small villages, free from the smog and noise of traffic, to immerse yourself in the beauty of nature. The beauty here will help you recharge after days and months of rushing to meet deadlines.

This September 2nd holiday, Sa Pa will host the Sa Pa Autumn Festival 2024, the Mong Ky Village Cultural Festival, the "Muong Hoa Fairy Tale" circus performance, and the May Village Golden Harvest Festival to help visitors better understand the cultural colors of this highland region.

Golden season in Y Tý

Located about 60km from Sa Pa town (Lao Cai province), Y Ty is known as the cloud paradise of Northwest Vietnam, and it also captivates visitors with its golden fields that blanket the villages during the harvest season.

Visiting Y Tý this season, tourists can also experience cloud hunting on the summit of Lao Than, explore the Y Tý market and Muong Hum market, and immerse themselves in the life of the local people.

Visit Pu Luong to admire the ripening rice fields amidst the pristine forests.

Located in the northwest of Thanh Hoa province, Pu Luong is a nature reserve covering an area of 17,600 hectares in the districts of Ba Thuoc and Quan Hoa. Terraced rice fields intertwine with lush, verdant primary forests.

For the September 2nd holiday, Pu Luong is also a great suggestion for those who like to reconnect with nature.

Here, the locals have two rice seasons: the May-June rice season and the September-October rice season. The terraced rice fields here are low-lying and gently sloping.

In the early morning, thin mists drift lazily over the rice fields, making the place seem like a fairy tale. Cycling along the small paths through the fields, breathing in the scent of ripening rice, will allow visitors to buy a ticket back to their childhood.
