Warning issued on the morning of December 13th: In the eastern part of the North East Sea (including the eastern part of the Hoang Sa Special Administrative Region), strong northeasterly winds of force 6, gusting to force 7-8, with waves 2.0-4.0m high, will cause rough seas.
Specifically, from noon and afternoon of December 13th, in the Gulf of Tonkin there will be strong northeasterly winds of force 7, sometimes force 8, gusting to force 9; the sea will be rough, with waves 2.0-4.0m high.
In the northern South China Sea (including the Paracel Islands), the northeast wind is gradually strengthening to force 7-8, gusting to force 9-10; the sea is rough, with waves 4.0-6.0m high.
On the evening of December 13th, the sea area from southern Quang Tri to Da Nang and the northern part of the central East Sea experienced strong northeasterly winds of force 6, gusting to force 7-8, with rough seas and waves 3.0-5.0m high.
The sea area from Khanh Hoa to Ca Mau will experience strong northeasterly winds of force 5, sometimes force 6, gusting to force 7-8, with rough seas; waves will be 2.0-4.0m high.
All vessels operating in the aforementioned sea areas are at high risk of being affected by strong winds and high waves.
According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, from the night of December 12th to the end of December 13th, the Northeast region, western Phu Tho, eastern Son La, and eastern Lao Cai will experience moderate to heavy rain, with some areas experiencing very heavy rain and scattered thunderstorms. The rainfall will generally be 30-70mm, with localized areas exceeding 120mm.
In the Hanoi area, moderate to heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected on the night of December 12th and throughout December 13th, with a risk of tornadoes, lightning, hail, and strong gusts of wind. From December 13th onwards, the weather will turn cold, with some areas experiencing severe cold. The lowest temperature will be between 12-14 degrees Celsius.
Around December 13th, a cold front will affect the Northeast region of Vietnam, then spread to the North Central, Northwest, and Central regions. Northeast winds will gradually strengthen to level 3-4, level 4-5 in coastal areas, and level 6 in some places, with gusts up to level 7-8.
From December 13th, the weather in Northern Vietnam will turn cold; mountainous and midland areas will experience severe cold on December 13th-14th, with some high mountainous areas experiencing extreme cold. Some areas in the Northern Delta will also experience severe cold.
On the afternoon and night of December 13th, the North Central region will experience moderate to heavy rain, with rainfall amounts of 30-60mm, and locally very heavy rain exceeding 100mm. There is a risk of heavy rainfall exceeding 100mm/3 hours, and thunderstorms may bring tornadoes, lightning, hail, and strong gusts of wind.
From December 14th, heavy rain will gradually decrease in the aforementioned areas. Flooding will occur in low-lying areas, urban areas, and industrial zones. Flash floods and landslides may occur on slopes and in small stream basins. There is a risk of tornadoes, lightning, hail, and strong gusts of wind during thunderstorms.
