From the beginning of the year, Ngu Chi Son commune proactively issued timely plans, ensuring that the health and population program was implemented according to the set direction. Activities ranged from healthcare for the people, improving nutrition, enhancing the stature of ethnic minorities, to population and development work. These efforts created an important foundation for health work to be integrated into daily life, especially for vulnerable groups such as children, pregnant women, and mothers with young children.

Healthcare workers are providing health and nutrition education to women.
The Ngũ Chỉ Sơn Commune Health Station has organized and implemented periodic surveys, monitoring, and assessments of nutritional status for children aged 0 to 16 years from poor, near-poor, and newly-escaped-poverty households. In the first nine months of 2025, 95 out of 95 children under 5 years old were weighed and measured, achieving a 100% rate, with 20 children diagnosed with stunting (21.05%). For children aged 5 to under 16 years old, weighing and measuring were also completed for all 401 children, achieving 100%, with 141 children diagnosed with stunting (35.16%). Nearly 500 children aged 0 to 16 years old in the area were monitored and assessed for their nutritional status, achieving a 100% rate.
Furthermore, during the implementation of the National Target Program for Sustainable Poverty Reduction, Ngu Chi Son commune has paid special attention to activities aimed at strengthening nutritional care for pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, and young children. The locality has organized various forms of direct communication such as group discussions, practical guidance on preparing supplementary meals, and demonstrations of model meals for children under 2 years old right in the villages. Through these activities, mothers have gained a solid understanding of breastfeeding and proper nutritional care.
Nutrition practices are regularly maintained, tailored to the specific conditions of each family. Simultaneously, the commune promotes balanced meals, utilizes readily available food sources, and supports people in economic development by providing plant seeds and training in production techniques. These comprehensive solutions not only contribute to improving community health and reducing malnutrition rates but also create stable livelihoods, increase income for households, and make a practical contribution to the goal of sustainable poverty reduction in the locality.
Group discussions, meal demonstrations, and activities in response to Micronutrient Day and Nutrition Week were organized, attracting large numbers of participants. As a result, community awareness of nutritional care and reproductive health has gradually improved.
Nutrition care activities in Ngu Chi Son commune have achieved many positive results. Specifically: over 98% of children aged 6 to 59 months received Vitamin A supplementation; over 80% of malnourished children under 16 years old received micronutrients; and over 94% of pregnant women received iron and multivitamin supplements.
In addition, Project 7 on improving the quality of the population in ethnic minority and mountainous areas has been implemented with many practical activities. The elderly are screened for diseases; pregnant women and newborns receive care before, during, and after childbirth; and pre-marital counseling activities are emphasized. The model of nutritional care during the first 1,000 days of life is strongly implemented, helping mothers and young children access the necessary knowledge and skills for comprehensive development.

Children in Ngũ Chỉ Sơn commune receive attentive healthcare.
Throughout the implementation process, the medical staff of Ngũ Chỉ Sơn commune consistently demonstrated a sense of responsibility and dedication. Particularly noteworthy is Mr. Phàn Láo Sử, the officer in charge of population and family planning at the commune's health station. Mr. Sử is well-liked by the people and his colleagues for his enthusiasm, approachability, and unwavering commitment to his work.
Despite the difficult roads leading to the villages, Phan Lao Su regularly visits each hamlet, meeting with each family to disseminate information about reproductive health care, family planning, prenatal and neonatal screening, as well as providing guidance on nutrition for mothers and children.
His dedication and that of his colleagues have made a significant contribution to gradually bringing population programs and improved nutrition closer to ethnic minority communities in the commune, helping people raise awareness and change their behavior.

Strengthen communication efforts within the community and raise public awareness.
Mr. Phan Lao Su shared: Improving people's knowledge and practical skills in proper nutrition is a key task in improving community health. Only when people understand and practice correctly will malnutrition decrease and health improve.
Every healthcare activity, however small, carries great significance, demonstrating the concern of the Party, the State, and local authorities for each citizen, especially ethnic minorities. At the same time, it is a long-term step contributing to the stable and sustainable development of Ngu Chi Son.
Mr. Sung Van Loi, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ngu Chi Son commune, said: In the coming time, Ngu Chi Son commune will continue to invest in upgrading facilities, equipment, and training high-quality human resources for the health station.
At the same time, the commune will effectively implement national target programs on population, reproductive health, maternal and child health care, and elderly care, maximizing existing advantages, creating a close coordination and interconnected mechanism between grassroots health facilities and regional polyclinics in the area, in order to improve the quality of health services and improve community health.
Mobilizing the entire political system will help the social welfare and healthcare program in Ngu Chi Son commune spread widely. Linking healthcare with poverty reduction goals continues to be a key factor in improving the quality of life for the people of Ngu Chi Son.
