According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, there is currently a low pressure area operating in the southern part of the East Sea. At 1:00 p.m. on December 9, the center of the low pressure area was at about 8.0 - 9.0 degrees North latitude; 114.0 - 115.0 degrees East longitude; moving West Southwest at a speed of 20 km/h. Due to the influence of the low pressure circulation combined with cold air, the southern part of the East Sea has strong winds of level 5, gusts of level 7; the western part of the South East Sea (including the western part of Truong Sa special zone), the sea from Khanh Hoa to Ca Mau and the northern part of the East Sea (including Hoang Sa special zone) has winds of level 6-7, gusts of level 8-9.
To proactively respond to the low pressure area in the East Sea, the National Steering Committee for Civil Defense requested the People's Committees of coastal provinces and cities from Da Nang to An Giang to closely monitor warning bulletins, forecasts and developments of the low pressure area; notify captains and owners of vehicles and vessels operating at sea to proactively prevent and have appropriate production plans, ensuring safety of people and property; maintain communication to promptly handle bad situations that may occur.
Ministries and branches, according to their functions, state management tasks and assigned tasks, proactively direct and coordinate with localities to respond to low-pressure areas; prepare forces and means to deploy rescue work when situations arise.
The above units organize serious duty and regularly report to the National Civil Defense Steering Committee (through the Department of Dyke Management and Disaster Prevention and Control - Ministry of Agriculture and Environment ).
