Stop organizing the festival.

Given the urgent situation, the province decided to cancel the 2024 Tuyen Quang City Festival of Intangible Cultural Heritage and the Tuyen Quang City Festival, despite thorough preparations for the opening ceremony, especially the Tuyen Quang City Festival having received trademark registration from the Intellectual Property Office. All tourism services during the 2024 Tuyen Quang City Festival were completely halted due to flooding following Typhoon No. 3. Hundreds of Mid-Autumn Festival lantern models from villages and residential areas in Tuyen Quang City had to be stored away, suffering heavy losses. The vibrant street festivals were canceled due to the storm, leaving residents and tourists with only regret.

Besides disrupting the province's biggest festival of the year, Typhoon No. 3 also left severe consequences for the tourism industry. During the flood relief and recovery period, all entertainment, recreation, and tourism activities were completely frozen. Many historical sites, hotels, guesthouses, homestays, restaurants, and tourist areas were flooded, and trees were felled. Landslides occurred in some districts, and debris flowed from upstream into the Tuyen Quang hydroelectric reservoir, affecting the psychology, emotions, and environment of tourism.

Comrade Le Thanh Son, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said: Faced with the numerous difficulties caused by natural disasters to the province's tourism, the department has directed tourism establishments to overcome difficulties and strive to restore tourism activities to normal. In particular, it has requested travel agencies in the area to strengthen promotion, connection, and bring tourist groups to Tuyen Quang. This demonstrates that the tourism environment in the area is safe, and the best facilities, services, and products are ready to welcome tourists back. In October, the number of tourists increased again, which is a good sign for the province's tourism.

Stabilize, recover

Ms. Chau Thi Nga, Director of Co Son Nu Trading and Tourism Company Limited (Tuyen Quang City), proactively connected with nearly 200 guests from Oxalis Adventure Company – a pioneer in organizing experiential and cave exploration tours in Quang Binh – to Tuyen Quang after the storm. The group visited and experienced the Tan Trao National Special Historical Site (Son Duong); My Lam Hot Spring Tourist Area (Tuyen Quang City); and the Na Hang - Lam Binh ecological lake area; they stayed in homestays and enjoyed local cuisine in Na Tong village, Thuong Lam commune, Lam Binh district. Mr. Nguyen Chau A, General Director of Oxalis Adventure Company and head of the tour group, said that Tan Trao truly was the capital of the Liberation Zone and the capital of the Vietnamese Revolution. The staff and employees of Oxalis Adventure Company felt proud of the revolutionary traditions of their ancestors.

Ms. Le Thi Ngoc Ha, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Binh province, a guest on the tourism survey trip, affirmed that the Na Hang - Lam Binh ecological lake, after the recent flood, has clear, clean water and the environment has returned to normal. The delegation was impressed with the cuisine and cultural identity of the ethnic minorities at the homestays in Na Tong village, Thuong Lam commune (Lam Binh). Through the trip, the delegation saw that Tuyen Quang has many tourism potentials and strengths: revolutionary historical tourism, ecological tourism, spiritual tourism, resort tourism, and community tourism. If properly planned and exploited, Tuyen Quang's tourism will certainly become an important economic sector with its own unique characteristics.

During a visit to the Na Hang - Lam Binh Nature Reserve, Mr. Dinh Minh Tuyen, Deputy Director of the Minh Hoa District Protective Forest Management Board, Quang Binh Province, and a member of the tourism survey team, commented that Tuyen Quang province has done a very good job of preserving its forests. While cruising on the lake by motorboat, one can see vast stretches of lush green forests everywhere. He believes that if the forests are well preserved and developed from their pristine nature, local tourism will thrive sustainably.

Along with promotional and tourism activities, the Provincial Tourism Management Board organized a program to survey tourism resources to develop tourism products in Tan Trao Tourist Area (Son Duong), survey the Tan Trao special-use forest ecological tourism route; and historical sites in Tan Trao, Trung Yen (Son Duong), and Kim Quan (Yen Son) communes.

Comrade Do Trung Kien, Head of the Provincial Tourism Management Board, affirmed that the survey trip serves as a basis for the province to continue developing diverse, high-quality tourism routes, products, and services with local characteristics. The goal is to develop Tan Trao into a national tourist area in the future, and to ensure the rapid, sustainable, and focused recovery of Tuyen Quang tourism after the Covid-19 pandemic and Typhoon No. 3.
