I. COVID-19 SITUATION IN VIETNAM

Since the beginning of the pandemic, Vietnam has recorded 11,573,931 cases, ranking 13th out of 231 countries and territories. In terms of the number of cases per million people, Vietnam ranks 120th out of 231 countries and territories (an average of 116,963 cases per million people).

II. TREATMENT SITUATION ON MAY 5TH

1. Number of patients who have recovered:

- Number of patients declared recovered today: 686

- Total number of recovered cases: 10,626,524

2. The number of patients currently receiving oxygen is 141, including:

- Oxygen therapy via face mask: 95 cases

- High-flow nasal cannula (HFNC) oxygen therapy: 12 cases

- Non-invasive mechanical ventilation: 1 case

- Invasive mechanical ventilation: 33 cases

- ECMO: 0 cases

3. Number of deaths:

- Zero deaths were recorded today.

- Average number of deaths recorded over the past 7 days: 1 case.

- The total number of deaths due to COVID-19 in Vietnam to date is 43,196, accounting for 0.4% of the total number of infections.

- The total number of deaths ranks 26th out of 231 territories, and the number of deaths per million population ranks 141st out of 231 countries and territories worldwide . Compared to Asia, the total number of deaths ranks 7th out of 50 (3rd in ASEAN), and the number of deaths per million population ranks 29th out of 50 Asian countries and territories (5th in ASEAN).

III. VACCINATION SITUATION

On May 5th, 5,008 doses of COVID-19 vaccine were administered. This brings the total number of vaccine doses administered to 266,271,596, including:

The total number of doses for individuals aged 18 and over is 223,641,691: Dose 1: 70,908,601 doses; Dose 2: 68,452,750 doses; Supplementary dose: 14,343,924 doses; First booster dose: 52,108,387 doses; Second booster dose: 17,828,029 doses.

The total number of doses for children aged 12-17 years is 23,965,543: Dose 1: 9,130,889 doses; Dose 2: 9,021,366 doses; Booster dose 1: 5,813,288 doses.

The total number of doses for children aged 5-11 years is 18,664,362: Dose 1 is 10,214,284 doses; Dose 2 is 8,450,078 doses.
