On May 26th, Nghe An province held a handover ceremony to receive the SOS Children's Village Vinh and Hermann Gmeiner Vinh High School from the SOS Children's Villages Vietnam system for comprehensive local management.
According to Decision No. 735/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister on the restructuring of the SOS Children's Villages Vietnam system, all facilities, assets, finances, staff, teachers, and children and students being cared for and educated there have been handed over to Nghe An province.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ms. Le Minh Giang expressed her emotion as she looked back on the more than 30-year journey of SOS Children's Village Vinh and Hermann Gmeiner School Vinh.
According to Ms. Le Minh Giang, for more than three decades, SOS Children's Village Vinh has not only been a warm home but also a place that nurtures the dreams of thousands of orphaned children and children with particularly difficult circumstances. Representatives of SOS Children's Village Vietnam also expressed gratitude for the companionship and support of Nghe An province and its departments and agencies throughout its operation.
Ms. Le Minh Giang stated that after the handover, the brand and logo will be changed in accordance with SOS International regulations. At the same time, the SOS Children's Village Vietnam Office will continue to provide operating funds in 2026 to ensure stability during the transition period.

At the ceremony, Mr. Thai Van Thanh, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Nghe An province, expressed his gratitude to SOS International and SOS Children's Villages Vietnam for their humanitarian contributions to childcare in the locality.
According to the plan following the takeover, SOS Children's Village Vinh will be managed by the Department of Health, while Hermann Gmeiner Vinh High School will be converted to a public school under the provincial authority and directly managed by the Nghe An Department of Education and Training.
The Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Nghe An province requested that departments and agencies urgently complete the personnel and salary dossiers for the mothers, aunts, and staff within 3-5 days, ensuring that the lives of the workers are not affected.

Regarding development direction, Mr. Thai Van Thanh affirmed that the province will prioritize resources to improve the quality of education and childcare. At the same time, the provincial leader suggested that Hermann Gmeiner Vinh High School could be renamed Nguyen Tat Thanh High School to comply with branding regulations and create a new position within the public education system of Nghe An province.
At the ceremony, representatives from SOS Children's Villages Vietnam signed a handover agreement with leaders of the Nghe An Department of Health and the Nghe An Department of Education and Training, marking a new step in the care and education of children with special circumstances in the locality.
