Nghe An: Urgent efforts underway to help people harvest rice crops flattened by natural disasters.

On May 11th, local Party committees, authorities, armed forces, and mass organizations in Nghe An province continued to support people in overcoming the consequences of natural disasters.

From early morning until afternoon, officials from Thien Nhan commune, along with police, military, and militia forces, in coordination with local political and social organizations, were present at the Kenh Bay rice field (formerly the Nam Trung area), directly wading into the fields to quickly help people harvest the fallen ripe rice and bring it ashore.

Earlier, commune officials, armed forces, and mass organizations in Thien Nhan commune were also present in the fields of Cau Binh (Nam Kim), Vung Nam Thua (Nam Phuc), Dong Nay Danh (Nam Trung), etc., wading through mud in the fields, assisting people in harvesting fallen rice, loading it onto vehicles, and transporting it home, helping to minimize damage after the natural disaster. Priority was given to families receiving social welfare benefits, households with elderly or single members, and those in difficult circumstances.

Mr. Nguyen Van Chinh, Chairman of the People's Committee of Thien Nhan commune, said that the two consecutive storms, thunderstorms, and hailstorms recently caused severe damage to agricultural production in the area. The entire commune has over 1,600 hectares of spring rice, but the natural disaster has caused nearly 1,500 hectares, which were in their ripening stage, to be flattened and submerged in water, posing a risk of germination and damage, directly threatening reduced yields.

In response to the emergency, over the past few days, local Party committees and authorities have mobilized numerous forces and organizations to urgently assist people in overcoming the consequences of the natural disaster.

In the communes of Thanh Binh Tho, Mon Son, Quynh Phu, Xuan Lam, Tien Phong, Quan Thanh… ( Nghe An province), local Party committees, authorities, and functional forces and mass organizations are also making efforts to help people harvest the rice crop after the natural disaster, aiming to minimize losses.

Officers and soldiers of the Quan Thanh Commune Military Command (Nghe An province) coordinated with the commune's Youth Union to help people harvest rice after the natural disaster.
