Nghe An: Import and export exceeds 3.1 billion USD in the first 6 months of 2025, some export items increase 'vertically' 5.5 times

In the first 6 months of 2025, the total import-export turnover of goods of Nghe An province reached more than 3.1 billion USD, positive growth in the context of economic fluctuations.

Of which, goods export is estimated at 1.8 billion USD, up 25.1% and import is more than 1.32 billion USD, up 8.2% over the same period last year.

The growth momentum comes from many businesses signing orders early in the year, stable production and a gradually expanding consumer market. Some products with strong output growth include: microphones reaching 116.6 million units (5.5 times), headphones not connected to microphones 33 million units (up nearly 44%), charging docks 9.8 million units (up more than 32%), electricity production reaching 1,594 million kWh (up nearly 42%).

In addition, many key products continued to maintain growth momentum such as: 28,300 tons of yogurt (up 23.2%), 4,792 billion VND of electric cables (up 22.2%), 122,200 tons of sugar (up 19.6%), 4 million tons of cement clinker (up 17.2%) and 172.5 million liters of fresh milk (up 11.6%).

According to the report of Nghe An Statistics Office, the labor utilization index in industrial enterprises in the first 6 months of the year increased by 10.13% over the same period. Notably, the processing and manufacturing industry increased by 11.48%; the foreign-invested enterprise sector (FDI) recorded a 20.82% increase in labor.

Also according to the General Statistics Office, 77.42% of surveyed processing and manufacturing enterprises assessed that production and business activities in the second quarter of 2025 were stable and better than the first quarter, while only 22.58% said that the situation was more difficult. Forecasting for the third quarter, the rate of optimistic enterprises increased to 80.65%, while only 19.35% predicted difficulties.

Positive developments in the market, orders and production are strengthening business confidence, creating more momentum for export turnover growth, an important factor for Nghe An to reach the target of 4.5 billion USD, of which 4 billion USD is from exported goods in 2025 according to the Resolution of the Provincial People's Council and the Decision on assigning socio -economic plan targets for 2025 of the Provincial People's Committee.
