People's Artist My Uyen participates in Korean historical musical

Early this September, People's Artist My Uyen began her training journey in Korea to perform in a historical musical about General Jang Han Sang.

According to People's Artist My Uyen, in this production, she will take on the role of Mrs. Jang Han Sang (played by artist Kim Jun Hyun).

This is an elaborate live musical based on the true historical story of General Jang Han Sang during the development of 17th century Korea.

The musical was created by the screenwriter and director Lee Jung Nam. The crew revealed that People's Artist My Uyen's performance will include dramatic dialogue and singing choreography in chapter 7; depicting the situation of a general leaving his wife to go protect the country's borders.

At this time, My Uyen is actively recording and practicing the musical part with the Korean-Vietnamese transcription supported by Musician Van Tu Quy.

Sharing about this special opportunity for cooperation, the "producer" of the Small Stage Drama Theater said that it started when the Busan Theater Association and the Ho Chi Minh City Theater Association signed a 3-year cultural exchange agreement, starting in 2024.

The content of the signing revolves around dialogue programs and stage performances. This is the second year that both sides have had exciting activities in drama.

Typically, in April 2025, the Ho Chi Minh City Theater Association and the Small Stage Drama Theater had a tour to Busan city to exchange art, under the official invitation of the Busan Theater Association.

Previously, during the time of exchanging and enjoying the performance style in the city, Mr. Lee Jung Nam (scriptwriter and director of the historical musical General Jang Han Sang) was very impressed with the creativity of the artists, and at the same time admired the dedication of People's Artist My Uyen in both the role of artist and the position of artistic manager and producer.

Director Lee Jung Nam directly enjoyed 5 plays in which My Uyen participated and highly appreciated her ability to convey emotions and messages.

Regardless of how many scenes she plays, artist My Uyen's performance overcomes language barriers to touch his emotions.

After that, My Uyen had the opportunity to collaborate with the Dong Chi drama crew to participate in cultural exchange and promotion performances at the Busan Theater Festival.

This role is an extension of the artistic relationship between artist My Uyen and author-director Lee Jung Nam, an impressive new milestone in her acting career.

According to the schedule, People's Artist My Uyen will perform 4 shows on September 11, 12, 13 and 14 at the Special Stage at Gubong Park, Namdaecheon River, Uiseong, Gyeongbuk Province, Korea.

People's Artist My Uyen is a stage and film artist, currently the Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Small Stage Drama Theater. She has more than 30 years of artistic activities, with a portfolio of more than hundreds of roles on stage as well as in film works.

Artist My Uyen graduated from the Ho Chi Minh City University of Theatre and Cinema in 1995; but she actively participated in artistic productions while still in school. She devoted almost all of her artistic activities to the City Small Stage Drama Theater as both an actress and a manager.

On stage, My Uyen made her mark through plays such as: The Fox and the Grapes, Diem's ​​Story, Running, Love of the Cotton Leaves, Justice Like the Sun, Extramarital Love, Dandelion, Dad! I'm Getting Married, The Love Story of a Female Prisoner...

His roles on screen also left many impressions, including typical works: Winning the Lottery, Debt of Life, Weak Woman, Living in Fear, Glorious Years, Who Goes Down the River, Detective Kien...

Artist My Uyen was awarded the title of Meritorious Artist by the State in 2012 and People's Artist in 2023.
