The writing profession and a 'fated connection' with farmers.

Having been involved in journalism for nearly 20 years, I've had the opportunity to write in many fields, but my longest association has been with agriculture, farmers, and rural areas. The greatest value and meaning I've gained from this work is the chance to meet and hear the stories of farmers.

Reporters from within and outside the province interviewed outstanding farmers in Thong Nhat district.

They could be elderly farmers who have spent their lives working in the fields, farm owners who rose from poverty, or business owners or leaders of large corporations investing in agriculture and rural areas. Although their starting points are different, when choosing to start a business in agriculture, they share a common desire to contribute and do meaningful things for the community and society.

Despite being an industrial province, Dong Nai prioritizes investment in agriculture, rural areas, and the New Rural Development program, consistently leading the country in building advanced and model new rural areas. Effective communication plays a significant role in the successful implementation of the New Rural Development Movement.

In particular, Dong Nai Newspaper has done a good job of informing and disseminating good models, innovative approaches, setting bright examples, and encouraging patriotic emulation movements and production development... Through this, it contributes to promoting the new vitality, new people, and achievements that the Party Committee and people of Dong Nai have achieved in the process of socio -economic development, especially the development of agriculture, rural areas, and farmers.

In the propaganda content, rural people truly play a central role in both production development and contributing their labor and resources to building prosperous and beautiful rural areas. For example, Mr. Vo Huu Thoi, an outstanding Vietnamese farmer, has developed a 15-hectare integrated farm model combining gardens, ponds, and livestock with ecotourism in Long Thanh district. Not only has he enriched his family, but he has also contributed to the community by donating nearly 5,000 square meters of land for road construction; investing over 600 million VND in bringing electricity to his production area; and always readily participating in other charitable activities.

With 15 hectares of certified organic vegetables and fruits, Tam Minh Quang Production, Trade and Service Cooperative (Vinh Cuu district) is currently the unit with the largest organic production area in the province.

Mr. Nguyen Van Dung, Director of Tam Minh Quang Production, Trade and Service Cooperative, shared: “I chose organic farming with the desire to bring health to the community by contributing to creating a source of green, safe agricultural products. We aspire to become an organization operating in the agricultural sector with integrity and vision.”

Following the Government's program, the Party Committee and the government of Dong Nai province are oriented towards developing an "ecological agriculture, modern rural areas, and civilized farmers." Accordingly, Dong Nai's press always identifies agriculture, rural areas, and farmers as important topics to focus on in its propaganda. Dong Nai Newspaper, in particular, proactively monitors and promptly develops propaganda plans on agriculture, rural areas, and farmers, as well as the National Target Program for New Rural Development and the One Commune One Product (OCOP) program…

Articles on agriculture, rural areas, and farmers in Dong Nai Newspaper not only focus on seasonal stories and agricultural product prices, but also on changing consumer trends, new demands of the domestic and export markets, as well as orientations and policies... to develop ecological agriculture, modern rural areas, and civilized farmers.

One of the key areas that Dong Nai Newspaper focuses on promoting is successful and effective models in production development, especially supporting the new generation of farmers who "think big, do big," contributing not only to enriching their homeland but also to developing a green, modern, and sustainable agriculture.

Through media coverage, exemplary models such as Doc Mo Farm (Thong Nhat district) have been highlighted. This farm was established through the collaboration of new-generation farmers with entrepreneurial mindsets from various fields such as architecture, media, and food processing. Their startup story is about building a green farm, a linked chain from agricultural production and processing combined with community tourism to enhance the value of agricultural products.

Here, the relationship between the press and farmers is not one-sided. Farmers themselves—farmers, farm owners, and business owners investing in green production and organic certification—not only actively cooperate in providing information to the press, but also directly participate in communication efforts, contributing to gradually changing perceptions among both producers and consumers.
