Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh agreed to take Tet holiday from February 8 to February 14, 2024, that is, from December 29, Quy Mao year to January 5, Giap Thin year.
On November 3, the head of the Government assigned the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs to notify administrative agencies, public service agencies, political organizations, socio -political organizations, enterprises and employees about the Tet holiday schedule for Giap Thin and National Day in 2024.
The Tet holiday lasts 7 days. Civil servants and workers will have two days off before and three days after Tet, plus two days off in lieu of falling on the weekend.

National Day holiday is four days off, from August 31 to September 3, 2024, from Saturday to the following Tuesday. Civil servants and workers do not have to take compensatory leave, so it is convenient to travel and return to their hometowns; parents and students have more time to prepare before the annual school opening day.
The remaining holidays of 2024 will be implemented according to the provisions of the Labor Code. Specifically, New Year's Day will be three days off (December 30, 2023 - January 1, 2024), from Saturday to the end of Monday of the following week.

Reunification Day and International Labor Day are two days off, April 30-May 1, 2024, from Tuesday to Wednesday.

Previously, the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs proposed two plans for the Tet holiday of Giap Thin, both lasting 7 days (including 5 official days plus 2 weekends), with different dates from the 29th or 30th of the 12th lunar month of the year of Quy Mao. After consulting with ministries and branches, the Ministry proposed to the Government the plan to have the Tet holiday from the 29th of the 12th lunar month.
Vietnam has a total of 11 official holidays a year. Depending on the year, the Government will choose the day off before or after National Day September 2. Foreigners working in Vietnam, in addition to the general calendar, are also entitled to an additional traditional New Year's Day and a National Day of their country. If employees work overtime or work at night during holidays or Tet, they will receive a salary of at least 300%.
