ANTD.VN - A warm and touching gathering of Phan family businessmen and their friends was held in Hanoi on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of Vietnamese Entrepreneurs' Day (October 13, 2004 / October 13, 2024). And it wasn't just the Phan family businessmen; the concerns and lessons learned from practical experience seemed to share a common thread as the country enters a new stage of development in the era of Vietnam's national resurgence.
Families and businessmen are becoming increasingly wealthy.
The Phan family, throughout its history of nation-building and national defense, has produced many distinguished figures whose names are recorded in the nation's history books. This is what moved Dr. Phan Xuan Dung, President of the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations, when he and other scientists and businesspeople co-chaired a seminar in Hanoi on the theme "The Role of Businesspeople in the Renovation Process."

From a historical perspective, Professor, Dr. Vu Minh Giang - Chairman of the Science and Training Council (Vietnam National University, Hanoi), Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Historical Science Association, and Chairman of the Vu-Vo Clan Council of Vietnam - stated: “Speaking of the country means speaking of a stable and prosperous society; speaking of the people means speaking of the well-being and happiness of the people. Every clan has its own unique characteristics and diverse contributions to the entire historical process and development of the country, especially during the period of national renewal.” Professor Vu Minh Giang mentioned three T's. The first T stands for sentiment, the second for mutual support, and the third for spirituality and worship. “How can we mobilize the contributions of entrepreneurs to the country and their clans? Entrepreneurs shouldn't contribute based on fixed quotas, but ideally, voluntarily. The gathering of entrepreneurs when participating in clan activities has a ripple effect, influencing many social classes and age groups,” Professor Vu Minh Giang said.
Building a Vietnamese identity and brand.
Continuing the story of Vietnamese families and entrepreneurs, economist and Doctor Vo Tri Thanh delves into the story of entrepreneurs, emphasizing the interconnectedness and openness of Vietnamese families. Over 40 years of reform, the country's development today would not have been possible without the contributions of entrepreneurs, businesses, and even individual business owners and producers. Businesses and families need to consider their unique characteristics to build strong and worthy Vietnamese brands and identities. Analyzing the role of businesses in the era of integration and digital transformation, Dr. Vo Tri Thanh stressed that this is a great opportunity for Vietnamese businesses to enhance their competitiveness in the international market.
From a practical perspective, businessman Vu Minh Phu, General Director of Vietnam-France Aluminum Company, stated that by applying digital transformation to production, his company saves 39 million VND per day. This shows that digital transformation is not something new, yet it creates tangible benefits, with enormous cumulative efficiency.
Without skilled and ethical entrepreneurs, a country can hardly prosper.
Presiding over the meeting and discussion, Mr. Phan Hong Thuy - Deputy Director of the Legal Department (Committee for Ethnic Minorities), Chairman of the Phan Family Business Club in the North and friends, humorously introduced Dr. Vo Tri Thanh as a son-in-law of the Phan family. This created a warm and friendly atmosphere, encouraging scientists and businesspeople from the Phan family to enthusiastically participate in discussions to balance the "counterbalance" against the prominent intellectuals and businesspeople from the Vu and Vo families.
Entrepreneurs and families need to consider unique characteristics to build strong and worthy Vietnamese brands and identities.
Dr. Vo Tri Thanh - economic expert
Professor, Dr. Phan Xuan Son - a senior lecturer at the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, discussed the role of entrepreneurs in the new era, emphasizing that they are not only profit-makers but also responsible to society and the nation. Entrepreneurs need to master the law and understand the political system to thrive in this new age.
Dr. Phan Huu Thang, former Director of the Foreign Investment Department (Ministry of Planning and Investment), shared the latest analytical data on socio-economic development in the first nine months of 2024, and the picture of foreign investment attraction in Vietnam. Alongside the general difficulties and challenges facing the economy, foreign investment in Vietnam also contains many bright spots and positive trends. He also emphasized the role of the State in creating favorable conditions for the development of entrepreneurs.
Looking at entrepreneurs and business from a media perspective, Major General and journalist Phan Khac Hai - Chairman of the Phan Family Council, former Deputy Minister of Culture and Information, and former Editor-in-Chief of the People's Army Newspaper - stated: "Success in business is important, but it must also be based on integrity. Without skilled and ethical entrepreneurs, our country will find it difficult to prosper." The Chairman of the Phan Family Council praised the practical and effective activities of the Phan Family Business Club and its associates. He affirmed the important role of Phan family entrepreneurs in the economic development and preservation of the traditional cultural values of the family lineage.
The success of a business is not measured by revenue or profit.
The forum attracted entrepreneurs who voiced the aspirations of the times, reflecting the nation's development during a period of national progress. “My future aspirations, along with those of many other entrepreneurs, are not only to build successful businesses but also to create sustainable value for society. I am passionate about and have chosen the field of education because I believe that education has been, is, and will always be a solid foundation for the comprehensive development of the country,” said Ms. Phan Thi Niem, Vice President of the Phan Family and Friends Business Club and President of AM Education and Development Group JSC, at the forum. According to Ms. Phan Thi Niem, the success of a business “is not just about revenue or profit figures, but it also carries a deeper meaning. It is about contributing to the development of the entire family, clan, and community.”
When a business is strong, we not only have the ability to improve our family's lives, but also to create job, education, and development opportunities for future generations. Therefore, she always believes that AM Education and Development Group Joint Stock Company not only aims for business goals but also sets a mission to build a prosperous community. This is sustainable development in many aspects such as economy, culture, knowledge, and tradition. "When a business develops sustainably, it not only contributes to the advancement of the family but also spreads positive values to the community and society," said Ms. Phan Thi Niem.
The seminar featured sincere and frank exchanges, and the ceremony honoring 10 outstanding entrepreneurs from the Phan family business club in Northern Vietnam and its friends further inspired the Phan family business community, making them more enthusiastic and ready to contribute to the prosperity of their lineage, community, and country.
The role of Vietnamese entrepreneurs extends beyond simply creating economic value; it also contributes to building a sustainable society. Entrepreneurs are not only initiators of innovative business ideas, but also bridges between the national economy and international markets, fostering deeper integration amidst the country's new stage of development and the nation's upward trajectory.
