Military Hospital 121 (Logistics and Technical Department, Military Region 9), located in Ninh Kieu Ward, central Can Tho City, completed its free health check-up program for students of Luong The Vinh Secondary School (341 30.4 Street, Tan An Ward), Can Tho City on May 11th. In late March 2026, Military Hospital 121 issued a plan to organize a free health check-up and consultation program for students of Luong The Vinh Secondary School, aiming to contribute to the care and protection of young students. The program will help to detect early and advise on treatment of common illnesses among students.

Colonel, Meritorious Doctor, Specialist Level 2 Tran Manh Hung, Director of Military Hospital 121, said that the program implemented at Luong The Vinh Secondary School this time includes examination, screening, and consultation for eye diseases (refractive errors, conjunctivitis, etc.), ear-nose-throat diseases (sore throat, tonsillitis, otitis, etc.), dental and maxillofacial diseases (dental caries, gingivitis, etc.), spinal diseases, and musculoskeletal disorders; while also providing essential information related to nutrition, vaccines, and guidance on appropriate vaccination schedules; and disseminating information on proper posture for studying and school activities to effectively prevent scoliosis. "The program will be implemented every Sunday (starting from April 5th) until completion, with the goal of helping approximately 3,000 students. Not only students, but also teachers and parents present at the check-ups will receive detailed advice on various health-related areas, helping everyone gain more knowledge and information they need," informed Dr. Tran Manh Hung.

According to Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Viet Nga, Deputy Director of the Can Tho City Department of Health, the city's health sector leaders highly appreciate and agree with the 121 Military Hospital's free medical examinations for students of Luong The Vinh Secondary School on Sundays (from April 5th to May 10th). The Can Tho City Department of Health has also requested the ward health stations to actively cooperate and support the 121 Military Hospital in providing humanitarian medical examinations and treatment in accordance with the general regulations of the Ministry of Health .
Mr. Vo Thanh Tam, Principal of Luong The Vinh Secondary School, said that participation is voluntary and all students are encouraged. Homeroom teachers in each class also inform parents about the free health check-up program for students. The school facilitates parents accompanying their children to the health consultations. Medical staff at Luong The Vinh Secondary School prepare student health record books and coordinate with Military Hospital 121 to update the results. Information from the screening is recorded in the student health record books and communicated privately to parents, not publicly disclosed.

During the Lunar New Year of 2026 (Year of the Horse), the leaders of Military Hospital 121 visited many patients at their bedside to inquire about their health, offer encouragement, and give gifts. This act of kindness provided renewed strength and boosted the spirits of the patients and their families. The joy thus continued to spread, and the community became increasingly happy.
Following the Lunar New Year, on March 19th in Hung My commune (Ca Mau province), Military Hospital 121 coordinated the organization of free medical examinations and medication distribution for approximately 300 people, and presented gifts to families of policy beneficiaries, those who contributed to the revolution, and impoverished households in the area. On April 14th, Colonel, Doctor Le Trong Quan, Deputy Director of Military Hospital 121, led a delegation to Tra Con commune (Vinh Long province) to coordinate the organization of free medical examinations and medication distribution for 300 people, and to present gifts to Khmer ethnic minority people, policy beneficiary families, poor households, and those in difficult circumstances. This activity further strengthens the bond of solidarity between the military, the medical community, and the ethnic minorities in this still disadvantaged region.

According to Colonel, Doctor Dang Ngoc Thuyet, Party Secretary and Deputy Director of Military Hospital 121, on May 16th, Military Hospital 121 will continue to cooperate with Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy to organize a program of free medical examinations, medication distribution, and gift giving for 300 people in My Duc commune, An Giang province. The program aims to demonstrate the principle of "drinking water, remembering the source," and the affection and responsibility of the army towards the people, especially policy beneficiary families and poor households in difficult circumstances, in commemoration of the 136th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birth. It also contributes to the local Party committee and government's efforts in social welfare, protecting and caring for community health, and improving the lives of the people.

According to reports, from March 2025 to the present, Military Hospital 121 has organized 11 medical examination and medication distribution teams, providing free medical care to over 3,100 people in the Mekong Delta region, and distributing gifts and supporting the construction of charitable houses with a total cost of over 810 million VND. This meaningful social welfare and community volunteer work will continue to spread strongly in the future.
