Indian Foreign Minister visits Qatar.

During his one-day visit (June 30), Indian Foreign Minister S Jaishankar will meet with Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani.

According to a June 29 announcement from the Indian Ministry of External Affairs , the two countries "share a historical and friendly relationship, marked by frequent exchanges of high-level visits. Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Qatar on February 14-15, meeting with the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani."

Against this backdrop, Foreign Minister S Jaishankar's visit will be an opportunity for the two sides to "review various aspects of bilateral relations including politics , trade, investment, energy, security, culture and people-to-people exchanges, as well as regional and international issues of mutual concern."

During his visit to Doha, Prime Minister Modi thanked Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani for his concern for the Indian community of over 800,000 in Qatar, and conveyed New Delhi's commitment to expanding and deepening bilateral cooperation with the country.

In response, the Emir of Qatar appreciated India's role as a valuable partner in the Gulf region. He also acknowledged the contributions of the Indian diaspora to Qatar's development and their enthusiastic participation in international events held in the Middle Eastern country.

Bilateral trade between India and Qatar reached nearly $20 billion.

According to ANI, this will be Foreign Minister S Jaishankar's third overseas trip during the third term of the government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He previously visited Sri Lanka (June 20) and the UAE (June 23).
