On May 29th, the "GStar 2026 - AI & Humanity" AI & Digital Transformation Forum officially took place, bringing together global AI leaders and leading experts. Speakers shared directions for using human-centered AI to improve productivity, work quality, and life.
Opening the event, Mr. Bui Hoang Phuong, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology , reiterated the national direction for developing AI as a core infrastructure. He stated that the development process has two main components: research and development (R&D) and AI application.
Furthermore, he argued that achieving the ultimate goal of AI self-reliance and creating versatile models requires high-quality human resources, infrastructure, and large datasets. "To use technology as a tool to solve difficult problems, all citizens and businesses need to use AI as an assistant," Mr. Phuong shared.
Explaining this, Wendy Nguyen, co-founder of Pacific Gateway Partners, said that AI is already present in most sectors that contribute to the national economy . In the next 2-3 years, this technology will be almost everywhere, changing the way people work.
Wendy compared AI to the early days of computers and Wi-Fi, encouraging people to embrace the technology instead of fearing it. “AI should become an intelligent assistant, not just a mere answering machine. That would limit users’ creativity and critical thinking,” Wendy Nguyen shared with Tri Thuc - Znews.
"In the age of AI, human value lies in the ability to think flexibly, empathy, and ethical responsibility," shared Professor Po-Shen Loh, a professor at Carnegie Mellon University and speaker at the event. At the GStar 2026 forum, he and many experts discussed how to cultivate these qualities to ensure that technological breakthroughs are always created to best serve humanity.
In addition, the program features representatives from technology companies such as Google,FPT , Qualcomm, MoMo, and Boryung, academic institutions including CMU and MBZUAI, and numerous AI startups. The event also brings together researchers, investors, and policy experts in the field of innovation.
GStar 2026 continues the series of AI events organized by the New Turing Institute since 2018, aiming to connect the Vietnamese AI community with international experts and organizations. Prior to this, AI Day 2023 invited over 27 speakers in the technology field, including Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, and AI Professor Christopher Manning from Stanford University.
