The "keeper of the flame" of school sports.

Driven by a desire to spread a love of sports and guide generations of students towards an active and positive lifestyle, for over 25 years of service, Mr. Le Van Bang has strived to develop the school sports movement at Pham Phu Thu High School.

As the Head of the Physical Education Department, he oversees the activities of the physical education department in the school; develops teaching plans, creates sports programs, manages equipment, and organizes competitions for students.

In addition, Mr. Bang also coached the school's cross-country and athletics teams. It's not an exaggeration to say that the students he trained were "excellent" runners. When mentioning Mr. Bang, many people jokingly call him the "lucky teacher" of school sports.

In the city's athletics and cross-country competitions, Pham Phu Thu High School is one of the leading schools in terms of achievements. Notably, at the Da Nang Newspaper and Radio & Television Cross-Country Race, Pham Phu Thu High School won first place overall for 10 consecutive years, from 2016 to 2025.

In 2026, in the first competition held after the administrative unit merger, Mr. Bang and his students actively participated, winning third place overall and third place in the men's team event. At the Da Nang City Student Athletics Competition in the 2025-2026 school year, Pham Phu Thu High School won second place overall.

In addition to his teaching duties at Pham Phu Thu High School, he founded and serves as the head of the Hong Bang Badminton Club and the Hong Bang Taekwondo dojo. Badminton and Taekwondo training and competitions for the students take place enthusiastically at the An Khe ward sports training center.

“My wish is to diversify the playing fields, providing the best opportunities for students to regularly improve and train their physical fitness. The students who come to the club and martial arts school all have a great passion for badminton and Taekwondo. However, how to increase their interest and maintain their great love for the sport they pursue is something I always focus on during training sessions,” Mr. Bang said.

With nearly 10 years of operation for the badminton club and over 20 years for the Taekwondo dojo, the name Hong Bang has built a strong brand in Da Nang's sports scene. Its appeal continues to grow, with an increasing number of students seeking training.

This summer, he and experienced coaches are taking turns teaching classes, maintaining a daily training and competition schedule to provide a beneficial platform for the students.

According to Mr. Bang, badminton and Taekwondo have great potential to spread more widely throughout the city. Joining hands for common development, his club and martial arts school will expand and will always welcome students this summer.
