On October 30, regarding the adjustment of Covid-19 into a group B infectious disease from October 20, the Ministry of Health has just sent an official dispatch to the People's Committees of provinces and cities, health departments of ministries, branches and medical facilities on instructions on payment of treatment costs for Covid-19 patients and policies for those participating in the fight against Covid-19.

Accordingly, to ensure consistency in the implementation of policies and measures to prevent and control the epidemic when moving from group A to group B, the Ministry of Health requests localities and medical facilities to pay for Covid-19 medical examination and treatment costs for people with health insurance cards according to the provisions of the law on health insurance; people without health insurance must pay for medical examination and treatment costs themselves according to regulations; food and living expenses are implemented according to the provisions of the Law on Prevention and Control of Group B Infectious Diseases.

People with Covid-19 who do not have health insurance will have to pay for medical examination and treatment themselves.

Regarding cases of patients admitted to the hospital until October 20 and discharged after October 20, the medical examination and treatment costs for Covid-19 patients before October 20 will be implemented according to the provisions of Article 7 of Decree No. 29/2022/ND-CP dated April 29, 2022 of the Government detailing and implementing Resolution No. 12/2021/UBTVQH15 dated December 30, 2021 of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly on allowing the implementation of a number of mechanisms and policies in the health sector to serve the prevention and control of the Covid-19 epidemic; the cost of food and living expenses for Covid-19 patients from October 20, 2023 will be implemented according to the instructions prescribed in the Law on Prevention and Control of Group B Infectious Diseases.

The Ministry of Health also said that the policies for people participating in the prevention of Covid-19 epidemic in group B are implemented according to Decision 73/2011/QD-TTg dated December 28, 2011 on the regulation of a number of special allowances for civil servants, public employees, and workers in public health facilities and the anti-epidemic allowance regime from October 20.

The Ministry of Health requests ministries, ministerial-level agencies, government agencies, and People's Committees of provinces and cities to direct relevant units to proactively coordinate and review purchased and invested resources and, based on medical professional guidance, to develop needs and ensure funding for medical examination and treatment and disease surveillance when the Covid-19 epidemic changes from group A to group B infectious diseases.
