Mr. Le Ba Minh Hai, Chairman of Phu Bai Ward People's Committee, said that Tran Van Phi's brave act of saving a drowning person has strongly spread the spirit of mutual love and responsibility to the community and society. This is a shining example for everyone to follow, especially at a time when the locality is actively promoting public awareness of safe swimming and preventing child drowning accidents in the summer.
Leaders of Phu Bai Ward People's Committee awarded a certificate of merit to Mr. Tran Van Phi.
Previously, on the afternoon of July 22, 5 children came to play at the lake in the cemetery area of village 1B, Phu Bai ward, Hue city. At this time, Tran CMT (born in 2020) unfortunately fell into the lake. Seeing that, Tran TTM (born in 2010) jumped in to save T, but both children drowned. Discovering the incident, Nguyen Dau (born in 1994, residing in group 8, Phu Bai ward, Hue city) was fishing nearby and saw and went down to save the children, but drowned and went missing.
Fire Police and Rescue Police of Hue City arrived at the lake scene to search for drowning victims.
At that time, Mr. Tran Van Phi, who was working as a construction worker nearby, heard the screams and ran to save M and T. He brought them to shore for first aid, but T had already died. Mr. Phi continued to search for Mr. Dau but could not find him, so he asked people to report to the Phu Bai Ward Police.
Upon receiving the news, the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department of Hue City Police and Phu Bai Ward Police dispatched officers and soldiers to the scene to carry out rescue work. At around 5:00 p.m. the same day, the rescue force found the body of Nguyen Dau and handed it over to his family for funeral arrangements.
