Entrepreneurial endeavors not only provide a stable income for individuals and their families but also contribute to the development of the local economy .

Starting a business from the family business.

Driven by her love for her family's traditional craft, Nguyen Ngoc Kim Anh (born in 1997, Hoa Tien commune) is dedicated to making glutinous rice wine, hoping to preserve its traditional flavor.

Before embarking on her entrepreneurial journey, Kim Anh studied Tourism and Travel Service Management at the University of Economics (Da Nang University). After graduating, Kim Anh worked in the tourism industry, but her work was interrupted due to the impact of Covid-19. She decided to start a business with her mother producing glutinous rice wine – a traditional family craft – as a way to help her mother revive a passion that she had put aside for many years.

According to Kim Anh, the demand for glutinous rice wine in the locality has been increasing in recent years, especially during holidays, Tet (Lunar New Year), ancestral worship ceremonies, weddings, or as gifts. In addition, more and more young consumers are interested in traditional products, so it is necessary to focus on improving packaging, flavor, and ensuring food safety and hygiene.

Currently, the business achieves an average revenue of 60-80 million VND per month, depending on the season and promotional programs. After deducting expenses, profits are stable, especially since expanding online sales and participating in domestic and international trade fairs.

Ms. Kim Anh shared that the facility is expanding its production scale to better meet market demand, especially during peak seasons at the end of the year. Simultaneously, she is also developing new product lines such as glutinous rice wine, fruit cocktails, banana candy, tamarind jam, lemon jam, etc., to diversify products and serve different customer groups. Furthermore, she is seeking partners to gradually introduce her products to the international market.

Starting a business from "what you already have"

After Covid-19, recognizing the increased demand for camping and nature-based getaways, Mr. Le Thanh Dan (born in 1993, Hai Van ward) boldly opened a campsite right on his family's garden.

With financial support from his family, Mr. Dan borrowed an additional 50 million VND to renovate his 3,000m² garden into an eco-tourism destination combining accommodation. He designed 4 bedrooms and 21 tents with a capacity of about 100 people, serving the needs of visitors for sightseeing, relaxation, taking photos of rice fields, experiencing overnight camping, bonfires, singing, and cultural exchange...

Not stopping there, Mr. Dan also organized activities to experience the traditional culture of the Co Tu people, guiding tourists to visit the brocade weaving village, and learn about the local cuisine and way of life.

Mr. Dan explained that previously, the land was mainly used for raising chickens and growing fruit trees, but the economic efficiency was not high. Recognizing the potential of his hometown and the existing resources of his family, he decided to shift towards developing tourism. Since making this shift, his family's income has become more stable, and their lives have improved significantly. Currently, their monthly income ranges from 10 to 20 million VND.

According to Mr. Dan, in the future, he plans to expand the types of services offered, aiming to build a sustainable experiential tourism ecosystem. Besides upgrading infrastructure and expanding the scale of guest capacity, Mr. Dan is planning to organize experiential workshops such as traditional cooking and handicraft making.

At the same time, he plans to develop cultural tours, allowing visitors to explore local life, customs, and traditional crafts. He hopes that these activities will contribute to preserving cultural identity and open up entrepreneurial opportunities for like-minded young people in his hometown.
