The most famous Vietnamese restaurant in America is closed.

Two years ago, Esquire named it one of the 40 best new restaurants in the country, commenting that "chef Kevin Tien's dishes are not only an exploration of Vietnamese cuisine but also a maximum stimulation of the taste buds."

Food & Wine readers voted it one of the 10 best restaurants in America last April. Chef Tien also cooked for US Vice President Kamala Harris at her residence during the Lunar New Year.

However, according to NBC, since May 23, the restaurant has suddenly stopped operating without any official announcement from InterContinental - The Wharf. Moon Rabbit employees only learned the reason after Unite Here Local 25, a hotel workers' union in the US, issued a statement saying that the restaurant's closure was made in the context of the hotel's campaign to form a union. Unite Here Local 25 members said that the vast majority (83%) of the hotel's employees supported forming a union, which would come with benefits such as higher wages, affordable health care and job insurance.
