On the morning of December 17, poet Nguyen Phong Viet had a meeting and gave autographs to readers at Ho Chi Minh City Book Street on the occasion of his release of his latest collection of essays titled We Live to Listen .

Talking about the new work published by Tre Publishing House, poet Nguyen Phong Viet said: "I think people will find a lot of sympathy because in a way, it's like I'm talking to a soulmate, a friend, someone who understands me. But from that, I realized that most of us rarely have the opportunity and rarely understand that we need to talk to ourselves. And with We Live to Listen , maybe people think that we listen to this world , we listen to outside sounds, we listen to nature, we listen to everything. But I think the core of this book is listening to ourselves."
It is known that the collection of essays We Live to Listen by author Phong Viet, continuing the series of books Are We Living Happy; We Live, Why? … has been warmly received by readers over the years. His essays are always released at the end of the year, and become spiritual gifts that readers look forward to giving to friends, relatives and themselves.
More than 40 articles in the book are slices of life told through an emotional "filter": "That morning, I saw a flower", "Nights looking up at the sky", "Hugs", "Going home to have my father cut my hair", "Don't let an apology become a debt"... The author tends to observe things that come from his inner self, practicing "listening" to the vibrations from within. Author Nguyen Phong Viet shared: "I just hope that with my very simple perspectives on the human inner self, readers can find a part of their inner self in it, with the same vibrational frequency...".
"These days, let us be like a train about to enter the station. Slowly release the accelerator and brake pedals. Hands should also leave the steering wheel or the control screen. Let the train, following the momentum, slowly drift towards the stop of the station," he wrote.

In this collection of essays, author Nguyen Phong Viet writes about the times when he "sits alone somewhere" when he "is a lonely species", with the mindset of accepting and making friends with that, because "only through scratches and bleeding can the heart and soul have the ability to create antibodies". This is a more calm approach and explanation to loneliness.
Sharing about his future plans, poet Nguyen Phong Viet revealed: "I will return to poetry in Christmas 2025. That is when I will release a new collection of poems, and I really want to make a boxset of 10 old poetry collections. It is a limited edition and I believe that perhaps before now in Vietnam there has never been a poet who can make such a beautiful boxset and have such a long journey to be able to turn it into a gift for his readers. During these days, I have had the idea to prepare for it, although it will take place in about two years, but I already have a plan. But for now, I still want everyone to see Nguyen Phong Viet from the perspective of someone who can share emotions in life."
