DTO - Mangosteen is entering its main harvest season. According to gardeners, this year, thanks to favorable weather, mangosteens are in better season than the same period last year. In particular, mangosteen chicken salad is popular on many social networking sites, so the demand for this fruit has increased sharply. Compared to the same period last year, the price of mangosteens at the beginning of the season is 45 - 50% higher.

Owning a mangosteen garden of more than 5,000 square meters, for nearly a month, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Quoi's family, residing in Tan Quoi Hamlet, Phong Hoa Commune, Lai Vung District, has been busy harvesting mangosteens to deliver to customers. Mangosteen output in Mr. Quoi's garden has increased, but due to strong demand from the market, there have been times when his family has had to refuse some new orders to ensure output for long-term customers.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Quoi shared: “In recent years, thanks to promoting organic fertilizers and choosing to spray biological pesticides on mangosteen gardens, the quality of mangosteens has improved a lot compared to before. Many customers said that the quality of mangosteens from our garden often has a rich sweet and sour taste, very different from the same type of mangosteen on the market. This is also an advantage that attracts many long-term customers to my family's mangosteen garden.”
According to Mr. Quoi, thanks to the famous mangosteen chicken salad on most social networking sites today, the market demand for both ripe and raw mangosteen has skyrocketed. Compared to last year, the price of mangosteen this year is much higher. At the beginning of the season, the price of ripe mangosteen fluctuated from 70,000 to 80,000 VND/kg, and raw mangosteen, weighed by traders at the garden, was about 60,000 VND/kg. Meanwhile, in the same period last year, the price of ripe mangosteen, weighed by traders at the garden, fluctuated from 30,000 to 35,000 VND/kg.
In Dong Thap province and many other provinces and cities, the mangosteen harvest season is also in full swing, so the price of mangosteen at the garden level tends to "cool down": grade 1 mangosteen costs from 45,000 to 50,000 VND/kg. Although the price of mangosteen has decreased significantly compared to the beginning of the season, many gardeners said that compared to previous years, the price of mangosteen this year is much higher, and profits have also increased.
