DTO - Mangosteen is entering its peak harvest season. According to farmers, this year's favorable weather has resulted in a more abundant mangosteen harvest than in previous years. In particular, the popular mangosteen and chicken salad dish, trending on many social media platforms, has led to a significant increase in demand for this fruit. Compared to the same period last year, the price of mangosteen at the beginning of the season is 45-50% higher.

Owning a mangosteen orchard of over 5,000 square meters, for nearly a month, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Quoi's family in Tan Quoi hamlet, Phong Hoa commune, Lai Vung district, has been busy harvesting mangosteens to deliver to customers. While the mangosteen yield in Mr. Quoi's orchard has increased, due to strong market demand, his family has had to refuse some new orders at times to ensure sufficient supply for long-term customers.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Quoi shared: “In recent years, thanks to the increased use of organic fertilizers and the selection of biological pesticides for the mangosteen orchard, the quality of the mangosteen fruit has improved significantly. Many customers have said that the mangosteen from our orchard has a rich sweet and sour taste, very different from similar mangosteen on the market. This is also an advantage that attracts many long-term customers to my family's mangosteen orchard.”

According to Mr. Quoi, thanks to the famous mangosteen chicken salad that's trending on most social media platforms, the market demand for both ripe and unripe mangosteen has skyrocketed. Compared to last year, the price of mangosteen this year is much higher. At the beginning of the season, the price of ripe mangosteen ranged from 70,000 to 80,000 VND/kg, while unripe mangosteen, weighed by traders at the orchard, was around 60,000 VND/kg. In contrast, during the same period last year, the price of ripe mangosteen, weighed by traders at the orchard, only ranged from 30,000 to 35,000 VND/kg.

In Dong Thap province and many other provinces and cities, the mangosteen harvest season is in full swing, so the price of mangosteen weighed by traders at the orchards is tending to "cool down": grade 1 mangosteen is priced from 45,000 to 50,000 VND/kg. Although the price of mangosteen has decreased significantly compared to the beginning of the season, many orchard owners say that compared to previous years, the price is much higher, and therefore their profits have also increased.
