Musical 'Kurt's Miracle' impresses young audiences

On the evening of June 28, the children's musical 'Kurt's Miracle' officially debuted with two special performances at Au Co Theater (Hanoi). With interesting content, elaborate stage design and carefully invested music, the play brought many artistic experiences to the audience.

Attending the premiere of Kurt's Miracle were Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ta Quang Dong, Director of the Department of Performing Arts Xuan Bac. Notably, People's Artist Xuan Bac is also the artistic advisor of this musical, along with two familiar faces at art programs for children, director Lai Bac Hai Dang and musician Luu Ha An.

The musical Kurt's Miracle was written by scriptwriter Dinh Tien Dung, with unique content that has never been exploited on the Vietnamese stage. Accordingly, the work tells the story of Kurt - a very familiar "friend" in life, but often shunned because of his distinctive, unpleasant scent. However, this character has a unique value, quietly contributing to nurturing life and the beauty of all things. According to the author, the "miracle" in the play does not come from supernatural forces or unexpected luck, but from sincere love and the inherent values ​​deep inside each person.

Kurt's Miracle brings together a large cast with two main characters, Kurt and Daffodil, 15 secondary characters and 40 supporting characters. The play shows meticulous investment with an eye-catching stage set-up that appeals to children. The bright, vibrant colors create a flexible, deep transition space. Through that, the crew recreates the world of imaginary animals that is both magical, vivid and attractive. To express the script idea of ​​"Professor Xoay" Dinh Tien Dung, the stage is divided into two parts. The upper part includes "nobles" with a shiny, glossy appearance, the lower part are creatures that are considered inferior, but still have their own value, contributing to the creation of the world of all species.

The presence of a live band on stage is also a plus point of this musical. Not only does it add vitality to the work, the orchestra also creates a realistic musical experience, blending with the character's dialogue. Taking on the role of Kurt, Tran Anh Duc (a prominent face at The Voice 2017 contest) shows his powerful voice, natural and witty acting. Meanwhile, singer Bui Ha My plays the role of Thuy Tien Vang well, with segments expressing the character's complex inner thoughts.

The stage is invested in grandly, creating a world of imaginary animals that is both magical and vivid.

Kurt's Miracle also features the boy band Oplus. For the first time participating in a musical as crickets, the group conquered the audience with an impressive performance of the song Cricket Quartet , along with graceful and humorous dialogue and movements.

Watching the performance, People's Artist Xuan Bac shared: "The script for Kurt's Miracle is very good and interesting. In addition, this summer, as a father, I think it would be a shame for the children if I don't participate in activities like this. As a senior artist, I feel responsible for spreading the love of art, creating conditions for young people who love art to develop their abilities. Who knows, among the children participating in Kurt's Miracle, there will be some who will turn their love into passion, thereby revealing their talents and contributing to the country's art scene."

Meanwhile, musician Duong Cam said: “What surprised me the most was that a play for children brought so many emotions, sometimes happy, sometimes quiet, and contained deep messages about life. As a father, I clearly feel that the details in the play are also very educational for children...”.
