After hinting at a winter revival with a spirited Premier League win, Arsenal continue their Champions League journey with a challenging trip to Portuguese giants Sporting Lisbon on Tuesday night.

Arsenal won 3-0 at Nottingham Forest last weekend, while hosts Sporting Lisbon kicked off the post-Ruben Amorim era with a 6-0 thrashing of Amarante at the Taca de Portugal.
Latest Sporting Lisbon vs Arsenal squad information
Arsenal's medical room has been significantly reduced in recent weeks, and only three long-term cases remain in Ben White (knee), Takehiro Tomiyasu (knee) and Kieran Tierney (hamstring) - with Tierney back in training - who will miss Tuesday night's game.
The likes of Riccardo Calafiori, Bukayo Saka, Leandro Trossard and Declan Rice all overcame recent health issues to be in the squad for the game against Nottingham Forest, although Rice was left on the bench as Arteta made a surprise change to his line-up, bringing Jorginho and Gabriel Jesus into the starting line-up.
However, Rice is almost certain to regain his starting place in midfield, alongside Gabriel Martinelli and Kai Havertz, while the debate over whether to play Thomas Partey or Mikel Merino in the centre will be a difficult one for Arteta.
As for the home side Sporting, they are also relatively full-strength for Tuesday's match, with the only two absentees being Nuno Santos, who has a long-term knee injury, and Pedro Goncalves, who scored a stunning long-range goal against Arsenal at the Emirates in 2023.
With Goncalves out for several weeks with a muscle injury, former Tottenham Hotspur man Marcus Edwards - who scored twice in the win over Amarante - could feature in a potent attacking trio alongside Trincao and Gyokeres. Former Coventry City striker Gyokeres has had a direct hand in 28 goals in 19 games in all competitions this season, with 24 goals and four assists.

Latest Sporting Lisbon vs Arsenal football review
Arsenal made a strong comeback after a two-week break, with a superb win over Nottingham Forest, a team with a solid defence. It was the Gunners' first win in four Premier League games without a win, ending a difficult period.

Two stunning goals from Bukayo Saka and Thomas Partey, along with Ethan Nwaneri's first Premier League goal, who became Arsenal's second-youngest scorer in the competition after Cesc Fabregas, brought joy to the fans.
Despite an impressive performance against Inter Milan recently, Nwaneri could not save Arsenal from their first defeat in the Champions League this season, as Inter beat them 1-0 thanks to a Hakan Calhanoglu free-kick. The defeat leaves Arsenal 12th in the 36-team table but just two points off a top eight spot, a position that would guarantee a place in the knockout stages.
Arsenal need to improve their form quickly, especially with Martin Odegaard back, if they hope to overcome their poor away record in the Champions League, where they have failed to win in their last five matches and failed to score in four consecutive matches.
Sporting Lisbon, despite losing coach Ruben Amorim, are still in impressive form. They recently beat Amarante 6-0 in the Taca de Portugal, with Arsenal transfer target Viktor Gyokeres getting on the scoresheet. Gyokeres has been one of Sporting's standout performers of late, scoring a hat-trick as they beat Manchester City 4-1 in Amorim's final Champions League game.
Sporting, currently second in the Champions League, have won nine games in a row, scoring 31 goals, and are looking for their 10th straight win in all competitions. They are on a run of 14 straight home wins dating back to March. Despite knocking Arsenal out of the Europa League last season, they have yet to beat Arsenal in 90 minutes in the competition.
