Nahji Chu and her family immigrated to Australia in 1978. Before becoming a famous businesswoman in the culinary industry, Nahji Chu had a solid career in many different fields. She studied journalism at RMIT University in Melbourne, worked as a reporter and photographer, studied animation at Open Channel...
It is this diverse experience that has contributed to Nahji Chu's creative thinking and unique management ability in the business field.

In 2007, Nahji Chu decided to start a business in the culinary field by opening the first Misschu store in Sydney. Initially, Misschu was a service providing traditional Vietnamese dishes such as spring rolls, spring rolls, and dumplings for events and restaurants.
By 2009, Nahji Chu expanded its model into a “tuckshop” - a small store specializing in serving Vietnamese fast food with a modern, creative and youth-friendly style. Misschu quickly gained popularity and expanded into a restaurant chain present in Sydney, Melbourne and had the ambition to internationalize the brand. However, this was also a difficult turning point for Nahji Chu.
Known for pioneering steps such as using electric bicycles for delivery and developing its own food ordering app (a fairly modern model, ahead of the popular food delivery services today), Nahji Chu encountered many difficulties in financial management and operations. In 2017, Misschu was forced to close due to financial problems.
Not letting failure deter her, Nahji Chu returned with the Lady Chu restaurant project, opening in 2021 in Potts Point, Sydney. Lady Chu has a completely new look and philosophy compared to Misschu. If Misschu represents a youthful, dynamic and popular street spirit, Lady Chu is a sophisticated combination of Vietnamese and French cuisine, reflecting her maturity and profound artistic personality.

Lady Chu’s menu includes dishes like steamed buns, spring rolls, vermicelli salads, and Vietnamese filter coffee. All are meticulously prepared with fresh ingredients and exquisite presentation. The restaurant is not only a place to enjoy food but also an artistic space where Nahji Chu expresses her love for culture and creativity.
Outside of her business, Nahji Chu is known for her work as an arts patron and supporter of women-led projects. She is actively involved in social activities to raise awareness about gender issues, economic equality, and migrant rights. According to Nahji Chu, art is a language to discuss and connect communities on these important issues.

The combination of business, art and society makes Nahji Chu a multifaceted image - both an entrepreneur and an influential social activist in the Vietnamese community in Australia. Nahji Chu's story is a vivid testament to the power of perseverance, innovation and the ability to reinvent oneself after failure.
From a migrant, Nahji Chu has risen to become a successful figure in the field of contemporary food and culture, contributing to the richness of Australia’s multicultural landscape. Her career is not only about serving delicious food but also about building community, raising social awareness and inspiring the next generation of entrepreneurs.
