Taking advantage of its unique ecological conditions, Bac Lieu has strongly developed its aquaculture industry, with shrimp being its main product. Particularly noteworthy is the establishment of a high-tech agricultural zone for shrimp farming, covering over 418 hectares, making Bac Lieu a "bright spot" nationwide for its high-tech shrimp farming models.

Specifically, with a total aquaculture area of over 140,000 hectares, yielding an annual output of over 388,740 tons, including many effective shrimp farming models such as intensive, semi-intensive, super-intensive, shrimp-rice, and shrimp-mangrove, which have been highly praised by many domestic and international organizations for their sustainability... this is a solid foundation for Bac Lieu to realize its aspiration of getting rich from shrimp farming. In particular, in recent years, the province's businesses have developed many modern shrimp farming models applying high technology, leading the country, notably the super-intensive shrimp farming model of the Viet-Australia Group.

When merged with Ca Mau province, this strength is expected to be maximized, as both localities are considered key provinces for shrimp farming, which will propel the (new) Ca Mau province to the top of the country in terms of aquaculture area and processed export volume.

Another shared strength, in which both provinces have significant potential and promise to lead both the Mekong Delta region and the entire country, is the development of clean and renewable energy.
