The website of the Japanese Embassy in Vietnam has just released information on visa fees for 2026 for applications processed from April 1, 2026 to March 31, 2027.

Accordingly, the fee for a single-entry visa has increased from 500,000 VND to 520,000 VND. For those applying for a multiple-entry visa, the fee has increased from 1,030,000 VND to 1,030,000 VND. The transit visa fee remains unchanged at 120,000 VND.

This fee applies to visitors applying for a visa using a regular passport.

According to statistics from the Japan Tourism Agency, more than 678,000 Vietnamese tourists entered Japan in 2025. Conversely, the number of Japanese tourists visiting Vietnam was 814,000.

Speaking to Tuoi Tre Online , Mr. Bui Thanh Tu, Marketing Director of Bestprice, said that Japan is a favorite destination for Vietnamese tourists, especially during the cherry blossom season from March to May every year.

This year, the company has recorded a 20-30% increase in bookings for cherry blossom viewing tours in Japan compared to the same period last year.

Tours to Japan fall into the mid-to-high-end segment, with prices starting from around 25 million VND and up. This year, tours to Japan have been fully booked since after the Lunar New Year.

According to Mr. Tu, tourists traveling to Japan are a high-spending group, so the increase of 20,000 VND in visa fees per processed application is not a cause for concern for them.
