Fire Jump

The Fire Dance is a typical festival of the Pà Thẻn people, usually held on the 16th day of the first lunar month each year to thank the gods for blessing them with a bountiful harvest, a prosperous life, and good health for the villagers.

Location of composition: Chiêm Hoá Commune, Tuyên Quang Province , Vietnam

Introduction: Dancing in the glowing embers during the Fire Dance Festival of the Pà Thẻn people in Chiêm Hóa (Tuyên Quang) is a primitive belief, a faith in the spirit world and supernatural forces. According to tradition, at the beginning of spring, the shamans in the village will hold the Fire Dance (fire-praying) festival to recruit apprentices and pass on their shamanic skills.
