According to the Director of the Department of Construction, Le Viet Bac, the province's transportation infrastructure system has been improved, with large and practical projects put into operation, promoting local socio -economic development. Over the past five years, key projects have been implemented with a total investment of over 5,858 billion VND. Medium-term and annual public investment plans have been developed, and investment preparation for transportation infrastructure projects has been underway. Management and maintenance of transportation infrastructure worth over 1,567 billion VND have been overseen, ensuring smooth traffic flow, especially during holidays, Tet (Lunar New Year), and major provincial events. Rural transportation infrastructure is being built according to plan, reaching 7,652/9,565 km by the end of 2025, achieving 80% of the plan. Simultaneously, the organization will develop specialized technical projects ensuring consistency and synchronization with the Provincial Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050. It will also coordinate the implementation of construction projects to serve the APEC 2027 Summit.

Entering the 2025-2030 term, An Giang is standing at the threshold of a new phase of development. “The merger of provinces, the expansion of development space, and the formation of a large province with diverse topography – mountains, plains, border areas, and islands – is an enormous strategic advantage, but it also poses new demands and significant challenges for the construction industry. It requires the construction industry to be one of the pioneering forces in realizing the vision: An Giang becoming a dynamic development center of the Mekong Delta, aiming towards the goal of becoming a national maritime economic center – an important growth pole and a model of sustainable development,” analyzed Comrade Ngo Cong Thuc.

To achieve that goal, Comrade Ngo Cong Thuc proposed: “With the highest political determination, the construction sector must proactively advise and urgently implement projects serving the APEC High-Level Conference. This is a particularly urgent task, not only contributing to promoting the image of the province and the country, but also creating a breakthrough development impetus for An Giang. The projects must ensure the best construction quality and the highest efficiency of use. At the same time, they must be completed on schedule, or even ahead of schedule (if possible), to meet the requirements of this international-level event.”

Regarding investment in infrastructure development and management, it is necessary to comprehensively advise on solutions for developing technical infrastructure, transportation, and urban infrastructure in coastal and border areas. Effective coordination is needed in planning and managing urban and functional zone development in conjunction with key national projects, such as Rach Gia and Phu Quoc airports; ensuring sustainable, integrated, and modern development. Continue to promote the construction of integrated infrastructure, concretizing plans approved by the Prime Minister; gradually completing important transportation routes. Coordinate with central ministries and agencies to invest in the integrated development of the national transportation network through the area. Improve the quality of management and maintenance of transportation infrastructure, ensuring smooth and safe traffic flow according to standards.

Regarding planning, architecture, urban development, and technical infrastructure, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee stated that it is necessary to promptly review and publicly announce approved projects and strengthen the development of urban chains, linked to the development of tourist seaports, import-export ports, and domestic, international, and regional transshipment hubs. At the same time, it is crucial to advise on the unification of construction and urban planning after mergers, ensuring a rational and sustainable spatial development. This includes researching and approaching development planning in accordance with the national master plan and the Mekong Delta regional plan approved by the Prime Minister.
