From practical experience, many good models and innovative approaches have been effectively implemented, creating a positive ripple effect within the business community and society.
Applying digital transformation in operations.
Amidst the ongoing digital transformation across all sectors, grassroots trade unions have proactively innovated their operational methods, gradually applying technology to enhance the effectiveness of caring for and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of union members and workers. Instead of traditional methods of communication, many grassroots trade unions have utilized digital platforms such as Zalo and Facebook to disseminate policies, laws, and regulations; and to quickly and conveniently survey and understand the thoughts and aspirations of workers.

For example, the Trade Union of Lixil Vietnam Global Manufacturing Co., Ltd. (Long Thanh Ward) effectively utilizes digital platforms to disseminate information about regulations, policies, recruitment, and the activities of the company and the trade union to employees. As a result, information is conveyed promptly, strengthening the connection between the trade union organization and its members.
Ms. Le Thi Hien, a worker at Lixil Vietnam Global Manufacturing Co., Ltd., shared: Due to the nature of the job, workers spend most of their time at the factory, making it difficult to keep up with all the information, regulations, and new policies of the company. Since the grassroots trade union has intensified its communication efforts on digital platforms, she can easily update information after her shift, which is more convenient and timely.
Notably, some units have utilized digital platforms to manage union members, organize online meetings, and conduct rapid surveys of employee opinions. This saves time and costs and enhances operational efficiency in the context of digital transformation. In addition, they have promoted the organization of online activities such as training, dialogues, and thematic discussions. Programs to care for union members' well-being have also been innovated with the implementation of loyalty point applications, shopping discounts, and online support, providing many practical benefits.
Mr. Le Nhat Truong, Chairman of the Trade Union of Pou Sung Vietnam Co., Ltd. (An Vien commune), said: "The application of digital transformation has helped the trade union improve the quality of its operations, increase flexibility, and promptly resolve emerging issues. Through this, the role of representing, caring for, and supporting workers is increasingly affirmed."
“In the coming period, to achieve sustainable digital transformation, the grassroots trade union will continue to improve digital skills for its branches; and at the same time, promote the development of shared platforms, ensuring information security. This will be an important foundation for the trade union organization to adapt to new requirements and better meet the needs of union members and workers in the digital age,” Mr. Truong shared.
Many practical care models
At the grassroots level, activities aimed at caring for the material and spiritual well-being of union members are implemented in diverse ways. Beyond simply visiting and supporting members during illness, bereavement, or celebrations, many units also provide essential goods and offer discounted prices. Some unions even collaborate with businesses to establish emergency support funds to help workers overcome difficult times.
Recently, at Hwaseung Vina Co., Ltd. (Nhon Trach ward), demonstrating a spirit of mutual support and compassion, the grassroots trade union, in coordination with the Board of Directors, promptly provided assistance to Ms. Pham Thi Duc (Workshop 1) and Ms. Bui Thi Thanh Thuy (Workshop 2), who unfortunately suffer from serious illnesses and are in particularly difficult circumstances. The joint efforts of the trade union and the company not only help alleviate the material burden but also provide valuable moral support, giving them strength to persevere in treatment, confidently overcome their illnesses, and soon return to work and stabilize their lives.
Furthermore, cultural, artistic, and sports activities are regularly organized by the grassroots trade union, creating a healthy environment and contributing to improving the spiritual life of employees. Many diverse activities such as art competitions, internal sports tournaments, and family days are maintained, attracting many union members. This not only helps employees regenerate their energy after stressful working hours but also strengthens cohesion and builds a united and harmonious team within the unit.
Currently, Dong Nai city has over 2,300 grassroots trade unions with more than 747,000 members. With such a large number of members, trade union activities in units and businesses are becoming increasingly effective and substantive, building trust and gaining the support of businesses. The City Federation of Labor will continue to focus on improving the quality of activities at the grassroots level so that trade unions can effectively fulfill their function of representing, caring for, and protecting workers.

Mr. Le Mong Hoang, Chairman of the Trade Union of Freewell Vietnam Co., Ltd. (Dong Phu Ward), said: "Activities and movements not only have entertainment value but also serve as an important bridge between employees and the company. Through these, the trade union understands the thoughts and aspirations of its members; promptly proposes and coordinates with the company to better care for the material and spiritual lives of employees, contributing to building a stable, harmonious, and sustainable working environment."
Through practical and innovative approaches, grassroots trade unions have affirmed their role as a reliable support for workers. Continuing to replicate effective models, while flexibly adapting to new situations, will be the "key" for trade unions to further enhance their role in representing, caring for, and protecting the legitimate rights of union members and workers.
