VnExpressVnExpress15/02/2024

From now until February 19 (the 10th day of Tet), many flights from the North and Central regions to Ho Chi Minh City are sold out, from Hanoi there are only business class seats left, priced at 10 million VND.

As of February 15 (the 6th day of Tet), most flights from provinces and cities in the North and Central regions such as Hai Phong, Thanh Hoa, Vinh, Quang Binh, Gia Lai are sold out and will no longer be available for sale from now until February 19 (the 10th day of Tet). From now until the end of the week, the only remaining tickets for the Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh City route are Vietnam Airlines business class tickets priced at nearly 10 million VND.

Thus, except for passengers who have booked flights in advance, those who need to go to Ho Chi Minh City these days must choose other travel options. Mr. Ngoc Son, Cau Giay (Hanoi) has an urgent need to go to the South this weekend and is planning to choose a connecting flight via Bangkok (Thailand), then continue to Tan Son Nhat with a total cost of about 7.5 million VND. Of which, the Hanoi - Bangkok route costs only over 2 million VND, while Bangkok is the cheapest from 5.5 million VND.

After February 19, flights from these localities to Ho Chi Minh City will have seats, but ticket prices will remain high. The Hai Phong - Ho Chi Minh City route has the lowest price from 3.5 million VND. The journey from Vinh, Thanh Hoa, Hue to Ho Chi Minh City is similar.

Starting next week, one-way ticket prices on the "golden route" Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh City will drop by around VND3 million. In general, domestic airfares from the North to the South will drop sharply after the Tet peak from the last week of February.

Yesterday (the 5th day of Tet), Tan Son Nhat International Airport also served a record number of passengers with nearly 148,000 people on 836 flights. This is the highest number in the 5 days of the Giap Thin Tet holiday and also exceeded the forecast of this airport. The day before (the 4th day of Tet), 843 flights with more than 136,000 passengers were operated at Ho Chi Minh City airport.

Previously, in the plan to serve the peak Tet period (from January 26 to February 24), Tan Son Nhat airport forecasted about 860-900 flights to and from the airport each day with an average number of 135,000-140,000 passengers.
