(CLO) On November 22nd, the Final Round of the Human Act Prize 2024, themed "Community Creation," took place at Thai Hoc House in the Temple of Literature - National University ( Hanoi ).

The "Action for the Community" award is organized by Nhan Dan Newspaper, in collaboration with VCCorp Joint Stock Company. This is an annual national award that honors and promotes community-oriented projects, and appropriately recognizes organizations, businesses, and individuals who are striving to contribute to society.

According to the Organizing Committee, in its second year, the Human Act Prize 2024 attracted 128 high-quality entries. The submitted projects were incredibly diverse in their fields of activity, ranging from equal education , community health and prosperity, poverty alleviation to clean energy, sustainable business, and responsible production and consumption.

This year's judging panel comprises 12 members who are reputable and influential figures both domestically and internationally.

After a period of serious, objective, and impartial work, the Organizing Committee has selected the 32 best projects to advance to the Final Round, based on criteria including: commitment; sustainability; creativity; impact and the ability of the projects/ideas to spread and inspire. These are also meaningful projects with a positive impact on the community.

Among these, many projects have been implemented consistently over many years, with results measured by compelling figures and, in particular, showing promising prospects for further expansion in scale and impact in the near future.

Representatives of each project will give a 10-minute presentation to the judging panel.

Besides the participation of large-scale projects from businesses with a vision for social responsibility, we acknowledge the contributions from smaller-scale projects, initiated by individuals, that have demonstrated creativity in their ideas and implementation methods.

In the final judging round, project representatives will have the opportunity to present, interact, and answer questions from the Judging Panel. Based on this, the Judging Panel will further select the winning projects in each category; and simultaneously decide on the best project to award the top prize of the Human Act Prize 2024.

The judging panel was very impressed with many groundbreaking and persistent community-oriented projects and ideas in the categories: Sustainable Projects, Ideas for the Community, Solving Community Problems, and Persistent Projects... Among them, a standout project was the "Walking Through Life with Your Child" project by Thanh Nien Newspaper.

According to a representative of the project team, in September 2021, recognizing the devastating consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic, especially in Ho Chi Minh City, Thanh Nien Newspaper launched a program to support orphaned children affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. After three years, by September 2024, activities had been implemented such as visiting and providing emergency support, donating money and gifts to more than 1,800 orphaned children in Ho Chi Minh City and Binh Duong with over 4.3 billion VND; providing sponsorship until the age of 18 for 454 children of various ages, with a total amount of over 57.8 billion VND; awarding over 2 billion VND in scholarships to students; sponsoring and linking university and college training for children after the age of 18 (after completing high school)...

"Building for Tet" is also an impressive project, part of Coteccons' sustainable strategy, linked to SGD8 - Human Development, one of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations. "This activity was implemented from the beginning of 2023 during the Lunar New Year, bringing a more prosperous and warmer spring to tens of thousands of construction workers and subcontractors working at Coteccons construction sites," a project representative stated.

Thanks to its comprehensive implementation, ranging from specific actions like giving Tet gifts, organizing health check-ups, taking photos, providing free haircuts, and supporting train and bus tickets for returning home, to creative communication activities that contribute to changing stereotypes about the construction worker profession, the "Building Tet" program has shown well-deserved appreciation to the construction workforce. Through this, the program spreads a humane spirit within the industry, fostering trust in the company among workers and making them feel valued and appreciated for the work they contribute.
