To portray the faces of the younger generation during the period 1954-1975, Tre Publishing House is reprinting two works: "A Generation's Profile " and "Forged in the Red Fire ." According to Pham Chanh Truc, former Deputy Head of the Central Economic Committee, former Standing Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, and former Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council, "A Generation's Profile" depicts real-life events and common historical occurrences; these are people worthy of the title "HUMAN BEING"—intelligent, brimming with love for ideals, compassion, and national pride. "Forged in the Red Fire ," on the other hand, is a collection of traditional memoirs from the City Youth Union, comprising stories about the patriotic struggle of young people, students, and pupils over a quarter-century of fervent struggle.
On this occasion, the Ho Chi Minh City General Publishing House launched the memoir "Strong and Unwavering" by director and writer Xuan Phuong. The authentic and emotionally rich writings recount her filmmaking journey, marked by numerous challenges and setbacks, but also by the opportunity to fully live out her passion. The work records memories from a lifetime of filmmaking, with footage capturing war, memories, and human destinies, from the Vinh Linh battlefield to the historic moment of April 30, 1975, in Saigon. Interspersed are simple everyday stories, such as images of Vietnam and a bicycle, along with recollections of comrades and colleagues – those who now only exist in memory…
