According to the plan for the reorganization of Dak Lak and Phu Yen provinces, Phu Yen University will retain its name, functions, and responsibilities. Meanwhile, a number of colleges will be merged and renamed.
This included merging Dak Lak College and Phu Yen Vocational College into Dak Lak College with a staff of 379.
The Dak Lak College of Health Sciences and the Phu Yen College of Health Sciences were merged into the Dak Lak College of Health Sciences with 112 staff members. The Dak Lak College of Culture and Arts remained unchanged.
Similarly, many universities and colleges in Quang Tri (newly established) with similar functions and tasks will also be reorganized and renamed. Quang Binh Medical College and Quang Tri Medical College will be merged into Quang Tri Medical College.
Some universities and colleges were retained or renamed to reflect the name of Quang Tri province. Specifically, Quang Binh University was renamed Quang Tri University, Quang Binh Vocational College was renamed Quang Tri Vocational College, and Quang Binh College of Engineering and Agriculture was renamed Quang Tri Provincial College of Engineering and Agriculture.
The remaining colleges that were retained include Quang Tri Teacher Training College and Quang Tri Provincial Technical College.
Meanwhile, according to press reports in early July 2025, Ca Mau province decided to maintain the status quo of universities and colleges from Bac Lieu province after the merger.
These institutions include: Bac Lieu University, Bac Lieu Vocational College, Bac Lieu College of Economics and Technology, and Bac Lieu College of Health Sciences.
