“ Journalism is a part of my life”
“I think that since I have chosen this career, no matter how difficult it is, I will overcome it. Journalism is not just a job but a part of my life.” That is the sentiment of Ms. Cao Thi Anh Tuyet, a reporter for Special Topic, Quang Tri Province Newspaper and Radio and Television Station.

Born into a family with a father who worked as a journalist, she felt from a young age that this was a job that was no less difficult. Through the stories her father told her every time he came back from work and witnessing his serious work every day, Tuyet's dream of growing up to become a journalist was nurtured. In 2002, Tuyet took the entrance exam to the Faculty of Literature, majoring in Journalism - Hue University of Sciences . After completing her university program in 2006, she was accepted to work at the Department of Literature - Special Topics of Quang Tri Provincial Radio and Television Station (formerly).
As a reporter at the grassroots level, she often goes on field trips and works in many places in the province, including remote areas. Traveling is difficult, and she often works after office hours, late at night, not counting Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. Despite the hardship, because of her love and passion for journalism, and the encouragement and support of her family, she always feels that her work is meaningful and valuable.
“In 19 years of working in this profession, perhaps the most memorable memory for me is a field trip to Trieu Long commune, Trieu Phong district a few years ago, when I made a report about the family situation of an elderly couple there whose 3 children were infected with Agent Orange.
After the report was broadcast, we received a lot of positive feedback from the audience, many benefactors contacted to help the family and similar situations. That made me believe more that journalism is not only a reflection of reality but also a bridge of love, a voice for those in need of help," Tuyet confided.
Not only stopping at the work of a reporter and editor, Ms. Tuyet also takes on the role of a radio announcer, leading a number of programs of the station... Each role brings her valuable experiences. Ms. Tuyet shared more: "In my opinion, a quality journalistic work is not just an article or a program, but it is also a bridge between reality and the public, a voice of conscience and social responsibility. I believe that when journalists put all their heart and mind into practice, quality works will naturally be born."
With that perspective, after nearly 20 years of working in the profession, Ms. Tuyet has actively participated in many journalism awards and won high prizes, typically: A Prize, Impressive Television work at the 2023 National Spring Press Festival "Paris Agreement and 50 years of historical spring"; B Prize, Impressive Radio work at the 2024 National Spring Press Festival "Preserving roots through lullabies"; C Prize, Impressive Radio work at the 2022 National Spring Press Festival "Folk songs of spring"; A Prize - Quang Tri Press Award 2023 with the work "Paris Agreement and 50 years of historical spring"...
Ms. Tuyet hopes that in order to create conditions for female journalists to work better, all levels and functional sectors need to prioritize women to participate in specialized training courses. Timely and appropriately reward the contributions of female journalists.
Inspire through voice
The first impression when meeting female announcer Nguyen Thi My Hang, announcer of Vinh Linh District Culture - Information and Sports Center, is that not only does she have an expressive voice and a lovely face, but she also actively goes to the base to write articles and participate in editing news and articles. With her passion and dedication to her profession, she has gradually affirmed her role in the hearts of the public and is respected and loved by her colleagues.

Ms. Hang's task is to produce local radio programs. Through many years of work, she has gained valuable experience as a radio announcer, which is how to express the meaning of the work, of the author, so that listeners can understand and feel the beauty and timeliness in it.
Ms. Hang shared: “Reading correctly, but to become a voice that touches people's hearts, the announcer must also read well and emotionally. It is necessary to know how to pause and rest at the right place and change the reading voice depending on the context of the content. Therefore, every day I always try to practice reading skills. There are many works that I have to read many times in advance, mark where to pause, stop and continue reading to fully express emotions, thereby conveying the information of the journalistic work to the public faster and more effectively".
In addition to her duties as a broadcaster, to develop her career, she actively participates in writing news articles and collaborating with central and local press agencies. Through collaborating with central and local press agencies, she has more opportunities to improve her journalism skills and experience. According to Ms. Hang: “The profession allows me to go to many places, meet many people, and many situations to understand more about the colorful life. Then when I became a broadcaster and read the works of the authors, I felt like I was both transforming into the character and the author's emotions. I feel very passionate about the profession and silently thank the profession for choosing me.”
Proud to be a young reporter
Although she has only been in the profession for a few years and has not published many journalistic works, Vo Thi Khanh Linh, working at the Vietnam Journalists Association in the province, always learns and improves the skills, expertise and experience of previous journalists, seeks new topics and practical experiences to create quality "brainchildren" to serve readers.

5 years ago, after graduating from the Faculty of Journalism and Communication, Hue University of Sciences, Ms. Linh applied to work as a collaborator for Quang Tri Newspaper. Here, she was able to work in a professional journalism environment. Due to her lack of experience in journalism, from being confused and having difficulty working, her first writings, and not having enough information, through many times receiving additional comments from seniors, she began to love this profession. Then some reports and notes were published in the newspaper, which motivated her to make more efforts to produce better quality works.
In 2023, she was recruited to work at the Provincial Journalists Association as an editor for the special issue "Journalists and Homeland". In addition, she directly participated in writing articles for the special issue. The most memorable memory in her career was winning the first prize in the writing contest on "Workers and Trade Unions of Quang Tri" for the first time in 2024 organized by the Provincial Federation of Labor, the Quang Tri Provincial Journalists Association in coordination with the Labor and Trade Union Magazine with the work "A Kind Negotiation". With this work, Khanh Linh also won the A prize, the 8th Quang Tri Provincial Press Award - 2024.
I am constantly learning to improve my journalism skills.
As a student, Nguyen Truc Phuong loved reading news, reports, and investigations that were interesting and current. And, without knowing when, Phuong had planted the seeds of love for journalism.

In 2020, Nguyen Truc Phuong graduated from the Faculty of Journalism and Communication, University of Science, Hue University and was recruited to work at Quang Tri Newspaper (old). Although she had little experience thanks to collaborating with a number of newspapers during her student years, when she first started working, she still encountered many surprises and difficulties because the reality of journalism was completely different from the knowledge taught at school. Determining that journalism is a difficult profession, with pressure on information and time, especially for female reporters, her love for the profession has motivated her to constantly strive. During her work, Phuong actively learned from the experiences of her senior colleagues in information exploitation skills, approaching characters, discovering topics; accepting both praise and criticism to improve her professional skills.
Although still young in both age and career, with a progressive spirit, and the attention and enthusiastic sharing of colleagues on how to exploit multi-dimensional information, and make tight and precise arguments in each sentence, Phuong gradually matures in each of her articles.
“In my opinion, young reporters need to make efforts to contribute, dare to commit to create valuable works. Especially in the digital age, when life changes every minute, every hour, we constantly learn to improve our qualifications, expertise, and journalism skills. In particular, journalists must always maintain an optimistic attitude and love for the job. For me, happiness is simply contributing good, valuable articles to readers and receiving positive feedback from the editorial board and readers,” Ms. Phuong shared.
Not only completing her professional work well, Truc Phuong is also an energetic and enthusiastic Deputy Secretary of the Youth Union in the activities of the Youth Union and the agency. In just a short time working, with her efforts in performing the assigned tasks, from 2023-2024, Phuong was honored to receive a Certificate of Merit from the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; a Certificate of Merit from the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of Quang Tri province; won the Third Prize and the Encouragement Prize at the Writing Contest on Vocational Education jointly organized by the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs and Quang Tri Newspaper.
