In the first season of the TNSV tournament, the qualifying round in Ho Chi Minh City had 20 teams from universities, colleges, and academies competing. The second season - 2024 of the THACO Cup has 29 teams participating. Currently, there are 26 teams competing, only 3 unknowns are the teams that have not competed yet, including Saigon Polytechnic College, People's Police University, and Ho Chi Minh City University of Foreign Languages and Information Technology. These are teams in group 3, so they will compete from the second round.

The qualifying round of the TNSV THACO Cup 2024 in Ho Chi Minh City saw the participating teams prepare very carefully 2 to 3 months before the tournament started. Therefore, the nature of the matches was very attractive and fierce.

This also attracted a significant number of student spectators. The opening match of the qualifying round saw nearly 4,000 spectators at Ton Duc Thang University Stadium. The remaining matches each attracted between 300 and 500 student fans from various schools to support their home team.
