On the morning of November 25, Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son attended and spoke at the Talkshow inspiring young people - the opening event for the 2025 Autumn Economic Forum in Ho Chi Minh City.
Attending the Talkshow were Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Van Duoc, Executive Director of the World Economic Forum Stephan Mergenthaler, Chief Representative of UNESCO in Vietnam Jonathan Wallace Baker, ambassadors, heads of international organizations in Vietnam, founders and leaders of technology companies, university professors, and 500 Vietnamese student delegates.
Speaking at the event, Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son expressed his joy at being immersed in the vibrant, vibrant, intellectual and aspirational atmosphere of the Talkshow "Contemporary Smart Generation".
The Deputy Prime Minister highly appreciated Ho Chi Minh City, the World Economic Forum and partners for their initiative to organize this very meaningful event dedicated to the young generation, within the framework of the Autumn Economic Forum 2025.
The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that the world is witnessing profound and turning-point changes, in which the fourth industrial revolution, new trends such as digital transformation, green transformation, the development of knowledge economy, circular economy... are having a profound and comprehensive impact on each country, each business and each individual, especially the young generation.

For Vietnam, to become an upper-middle-income country by 2030 and a high-income country by 2045, entering an era of rich and powerful development, many historic decisions on breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation and national digital transformation; breakthroughs in education and training development; developing the private economy to become "the most important driving force" of the national economy; international integration in the new situation... are being vigorously implemented.
Vietnam identifies the development of science, technology, innovation and digital transformation as the top important breakthroughs to bring the country to breakthrough development in the new era, considering "green transformation in the digital age" not only a trend of the times, but also a future imperative for the country's sustainable development.
The Deputy Prime Minister affirmed that in all the above-mentioned decisions, priorities and development breakthroughs, the young generation - the future owners of the country, are always placed at the center, with great trust and expectations.
For Ho Chi Minh City, with great expectations for the City's "locomotive" role, the Party and State of Vietnam have created the most favorable conditions in terms of institutions and decentralization for the City to grow strongly.
The city has been granted many outstanding mechanisms and policies, piloted and implemented unprecedented new models and mechanisms, especially in the fields of: Science and technology, innovation, digital transformation, strategic infrastructure development, international financial center, attracting and utilizing talents, etc.
With faith in the dynamism, creativity and determination of the City's government and people, in which the young generation plays a core role, the Government will continue to accompany the City to remove barriers and unleash all resources so that the City can quickly "fly high and far" in the era of national growth.
In that process, young people are the future owners of the country and of Ho Chi Minh City; are the core force, even the most important, to implement the outstanding and breakthrough policies of the City and the whole country; are the decisive factor in the success in realizing the goals of making the country develop richly, strongly, "on par with the world powers" in the new era.

Emphasizing that Vietnam's greatest advantage is the 100 million Vietnamese people, especially the young generation - intelligent, creative and full of aspirations to contribute to the country, the Deputy Prime Minister said that the opportunities for young people to develop their talents, promote their intelligence and capacity for innovation are enormous, but their responsibility for the cause of building and defending the Fatherland in the new era is also very heavy.
According to the Deputy Prime Minister, Vietnam is fortunate to have a "golden population structure", but the golden population will not automatically transform into "golden thinking" or "golden capacity" if the young generation does not proactively strive to keep up with the development trends of the times.

For that reason, the Deputy Prime Minister suggested that young people be deeply aware of their roles and responsibilities, of opportunities and challenges to prepare the best for themselves on the journey to realize their aspirations and dreams, emphasizing that no one can prepare the future for young people better than the young people themselves.
The theme of today's Talkshow "Contemporary Smart Generation" conveys many messages. The intelligence that the country needs from you is the constant exploration, innovation, daring to think, daring to do, daring to take responsibility for the common good; the acumen and sharpness in solving urgent problems of the country and of all humanity.
Contemporary means right now. Our people cannot wait, when the demands for the country to develop rapidly and become rich and strong are extremely urgent. The country needs you to act today.
The Deputy Prime Minister affirmed that the Government is committed to unlocking all resources for innovation and sustainable development. However, the ones who can intelligently exploit and effectively use those resources for the common cause must be the young people themselves.
The Deputy Prime Minister hopes that you will continue to study and practice to become talented and virtuous people. Start a business, not only to enrich yourself and your family, but also for the bright future of the entire nation, for a green, clean, peaceful, stable and prosperous world.
The Deputy Prime Minister believes that the young generation of Vietnam, including the young people attending this Talkshow, will be imbued with the spirit of "wherever needed, there are young people, wherever difficult, there are young people" , contributing to creating miracles of "green transformation in the digital age" in the new era of development of Vietnam.
Vietnam plays a key role in promoting sustainable development.
At the Talkshow, Professor Scott Thompson-Whiteside, General Director of RMIT University Vietnam, emphasized that in the context of digital transformation, advanced manufacturing and green transition taking place strongly, Vietnamese youth play a key role in promoting sustainable development.
Global challenges such as climate change require innovative solutions and the young generation of Vietnam with its technological understanding, flexibility and breakthrough thinking will be the leading force in developing green technologies and environmentally friendly digital solutions.
According to Professor Scott Thompson-Whiteside, the future of work is also shifting from optimizing efficiency to optimizing creativity, so he hopes that young people will always carry the spirit of "learn fast - try fast - fail fast - improve fast" after today's discussion.
Over the past 25 years, RMIT Vietnam has trained more than 25,000 students, who are now making important contributions in Vietnam and around the world. RMIT is committed to building leadership capacity for young Vietnamese through high-quality education, practical experience and promoting creative and critical thinking, said Professor Scott Thompson-Whiteside.
39% of core workforce skills will change by 2030
Talking to young people, WEF Executive Director Stephan Mergenthaler said: According to research by the World Economic Forum, especially the Future of Jobs report, 39% of the core skills of the workforce will change by 2030, showing the reality that future jobs will require competencies that today's young people have never even heard of.
That means technology is not replacing humans, but redefining what only humans can do, including skills such as analytical thinking, resilience, flexibility and agility, leadership and social influence, and creative thinking.
According to WEF Managing Director Stephan Mergenthaler, in the fastest growing skill group to 2030, there will be a strong rise in technology-related competencies: artificial intelligence, big data, cybersecurity, and technological literacy. At the same time, human skills such as creativity, resilience, curiosity, and lifelong learning are also in the strong growth group.
While 47% of jobs are still done entirely by humans today, by 2030 the picture will be more balanced. Nearly a third of jobs will be done by technology, a third will be based on human-machine collaboration, and the rest will be done by humans. This is the model that the younger generation must prepare to enter: a model of human-AI collaboration.
Mr. Stephan Mergenthaler emphasized that there are currently three important shifts in thinking that the new generation needs to prepare for: First, shifting from competitive thinking to cooperation with AI. Technology is not a "rival", but a tool to help people focus on higher values; second, shifting from "learning once for life" to "continuous learning", skills are no longer a static toolkit, but a journey of constant updating; third, shifting from specialization to interdisciplinary thinking. The new world requires the ability to connect fields to create new solutions - something that machines cannot do yet.
