As a soldier who participated in the resistance war against the US to save the country, even after being discharged from the army and returning to civilian life with a 38% disability rating, veteran Trinh Xuan Lam always wished to contribute his strength and intellect to the socio -economic development of his homeland.

After returning from military service, Mr. Trinh Xuan Lam took on the roles of Production Team Leader, Deputy Chairman, and Chairman of the local Agricultural Cooperative. Determined to enrich himself, develop the economy, and contribute to society, in 1997, Mr. Lam decided to establish Tien Son Co., Ltd. with an initial charter capital of only 500 million VND and 10 employees. Thanks to his dynamism and keen understanding of market mechanisms, the business he owns has grown steadily. From a small company, Tien Son Co., Ltd. transformed into a corporation and in 2022 into a group. Today, Tien Son has risen to become a " giant " in Thanh Hoa's textile and garment industry, with 13 export garment factories in rural and mountainous districts of the province, representing a total investment of over 2,000 billion VND. The corporation creates jobs for over 10,000 workers, primarily relatives of war veterans and families with meritorious contributions to the revolution, with incomes ranging from 8 to 10 million VND per person per month. Each year, the corporation generates hundreds of billions of VND in revenue and contributes tens of billions of VND to the state budget. Currently, the corporation's textile products are exported to major markets such as the US and the EU. Notably, in March 2021, Tien Son Group became the first private enterprise in Thanh Hoa province to list its shares on the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange, under the ticker symbol AAT, with a current charter capital of over 700 billion VND.

Veteran Trinh Xuan Lam, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Tien Son Thanh Hoa Group Joint Stock Company, Thanh Hoa province, said: " After leaving the military, seeing my family members, especially the children of veterans, unemployed and having to go to Binh Duong, Dong Nai, and Ho Chi Minh City to find work, I was very eager to create jobs for many workers right in my hometown. Therefore, I ventured into business. So I bought the Hanoi 40 Garment Company in Bim Son town. After that, we received orders, creating jobs for many workers; at the same time, contributing a part to the state budget and social welfare."

Mr. Vu Van Thanh, CEO of Son Ha Export Garment Factory,   Tien Son Thanh Hoa Group Joint Stock Company further stated: "After completing my military service, in 2006, by chance, I had the opportunity to work with Tien Son. Working alongside Chairman Lam, I learned a great deal; working at the group has helped me develop and I feel very secure in my job."

Born and raised in the scholarly region of Hoang Hoa, and having spent four years as a military medic at the 384th Division's Medical Station under the 12th Army Corps (Truong Son Construction Corporation), veteran Doan Thi Lich was forged with the willpower and resilience of a soldier of Uncle Ho's army. After decades involved in the petroleum and transportation business, in 2004, veteran Doan Thi Lich decided to shift her investment focus to education. On a 2.5-hectare plot of land, she invested over 20 billion VND to build Hoang Hoa High School – the first private high school in Hoang Hoa. In 2010, the school was officially completed and welcomed its first cohort of 200 students. After 14 years of construction and development, the school now has 50 staff and teachers, 25 classrooms, and nearly 1,200 students. From this school, nearly 3,000 students from the coastal communes of Hoang Hoa district have graduated and are now working and living throughout the country.

Furthermore, Ms. Doan Thi Lich, a former combatant of the Communist Party of Vietnam, invested in the construction of Thanh Lich Vocational School of Economics and Technology; and collaborated with Hai Phong Maritime College 1, Vocational College No. 4 - Ministry of National Defense, and Thanh Hoa Vocational School of Commerce and Tourism to train professionals in fields relevant to the local socio-economic development, such as: food processing, ship operation, machinery repair, and accounting. This contributed to providing a high-quality workforce for businesses and the tourism industry in Hoang Hoa district in particular and Thanh Hoa province in general.

Ms. Doan Thi Lich, Director of Thanh Thach Co., Ltd. - Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of Hoang Hoa High School and Thanh Lich Vocational School of Economics and Technology, Hoang Hoa District, Thanh Hoa Province, shared: "I always think about the younger generation. I decided to invest in the first private school in Hoang Hoa so that many students could receive a proper education. After junior high school, many students who couldn't get into public schools can attend my school. For five consecutive years, my school has had a 100% high school graduation rate. Many students achieved scores of 21-26.5 on the university entrance exam. Along with teaching academics, I established a vocational school to teach vocational skills to the students. Next year, I will expand the vocational school."

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hang, Deputy Principal of Hoang Hoa High School in Hoang Hoa District, Thanh Hoa Province, said: "Ms. Lich is a veteran and a native of Hoang Hoa. She is concerned about the education of children in coastal communes. Therefore, she built two schools: a high school and a vocational school, so that students who did not pass the entrance exam to public high schools can still attend school or learn a trade. The vocational school teaches several trades. The appearance of these two schools gives children from eight coastal communes the opportunity to go to school, allows parents to work with peace of mind, and enables many children to learn a trade and find employment."

Currently, the Thanh Hoa Provincial Association of Veteran Entrepreneurs has nearly 490 active members. During the 2018-2023 term, veteran entrepreneurs were dynamic and innovative, effectively implementing the motto "3 maintain, 1 combat, 1 seek" (maintaining labor, maintaining markets, maintaining cash flow; successfully combating the pandemic and seeking new markets) to maintain and boost production and business activities. The total revenue of veteran entrepreneurs in the entire association is estimated at 78,822 billion VND; contributing nearly 820 billion VND to the state budget; and providing employment for 42,600 workers, with an average income of 6.5 - 10 million VND per person per month.

Mr. Trinh Xuan Tan, Director of Thieu Yen Trading Company in Yen Dinh district, Thanh Hoa province, added: "We are determined to get rich and prosper in our homeland. Currently, the company is developing well, creating jobs for hundreds of local workers. The main business is selling fertilizers to serve agricultural production in the province; we also have 4-5 motorbike shops and a car shop. As long as I have the strength, I will continue to serve society and contribute to the country's development."

Veteran Trinh Xuan Lam, Chairman of the Association of Veteran Entrepreneurs of Thanh Hoa Province

Veteran Trinh Xuan Lam, Chairman of the Veteran Entrepreneurs Association of Thanh Hoa province, shared: "The Veteran Entrepreneurs Association includes people who were trained in the Vietnam People's Army. No matter how difficult the circumstances, they remain determined to move forward. These comrades always set a leading example in social welfare in the area."

Despite the challenging economic and market conditions, veteran entrepreneurs continue to uphold the noble qualities of soldiers of Uncle Ho's army: "Loyalty - Solidarity - Exemplary Conduct - Innovation," actively promoting production and business, participating in charitable work, and showing gratitude... contributing to building Thanh Hoa into a new growth pole in the North of the country, a prosperous, beautiful, civilized, and modern province, a comprehensively developed and "model" province of the whole country.
