Practical actions to protect the environment

Recently, Long An Youth Union simultaneously launched the peak day of "Volunteering to build new rural areas" in 2024 and responded to the first National Green Sunday in 2024. Accordingly, the Provincial Youth Union directed 100% of Youth Union bases across the province to simultaneously launch many meaningful and practical projects and tasks. In particular, Chau Thanh district was chosen as a provincial point, organized at the Cultural, Sports and Community Learning Center of Binh Quoi commune.

The program took place with many practical activities such as propaganda and dissemination of information on building advanced new rural areas, model new rural areas, organizing sanitation, environmental protection, protecting water resources, responding to climate change; at the same time, implementing the Waste Classification at Source model, donating 60 trash cans, mobilizing everyone to respond to the collection and treatment of waste, solving environmental problems that still exist in the locality, especially production and business establishments related to plastic waste.

In addition, in the program, the model of exchanging plastic waste for green trees was also deployed and implemented; launching a movement for each cadre and youth union member to plant and care for at least 1 tree; organizing environmental sanitation and landscaping at the office; implementing projects: Youth Flower Garden, Green Room Nursery,... giving gifts to support people in difficult circumstances in the area, each worth 500,000 VND mobilized by the Provincial Youth Union. In addition, the Youth Union launched a campaign to cut down trees that obscured the view, collect garbage and plant 150 colorful leafy trees on the Ba Binh Xuyen dam road, Binh Quoi commune with a length of 1km.

In Thu Thua district, more than 40 union members and youths joined the Youth Flower Street project, planting more than 200 Barringtonia acutangula trees on the central route from the district center to Ba Ban 2 bridge.

In addition, as part of the series of activities on the peak day, the Youth Union and Association chapters at all levels in the province also participated in activities such as organizing tree planting and flower planting along the road; implementing the Mural Road and Flowering Electric Pole models; renovating houses, gardens, ponds, barns, beautifying fences and gates; repairing bridges and roads; cleaning the environment, collecting waste, dredging sewers, canals and ditches; handling environmental black spots; establishing and expanding the Volunteer Youth Team to apply biotechnology in environmental protection (using IMO indigenous microorganisms); participating in propaganda and mobilizing people to change their behaviors and living habits that are harmful to the environment to the 4R/4T habits (Refuse/Refuse - Reduce/Reuse/Reuse - Recycle),... with the participation of more than 2,500 Youth Union members.
