| Village Front Committee leaders inspect sweet potato growing areas to make practical suggestions to help people cultivate more efficiently. |
In late April, in the predominantly agricultural commune of Phu Ho, despite the busy rice harvest, everyone unanimously participated in community activities to beautify and improve the roads. In Dong Di village, the model road project, "Flag Road," was launched to celebrate the 51st anniversary of the Liberation of Southern Vietnam and the reunification of the country.
Under the leadership of the Commune Fatherland Front Committee, political and social organizations, from the Veterans Association and Youth Union to the Farmers Association and Women's Association, all contributed their efforts and labor. All households along the road actively responded and joined hands in installing a dignified and standardized flag system along the entire route. The residents of Dong Di village pledged to voluntarily maintain and display the flags according to standards on important occasions, and to keep the road clean daily.
Responding to the call from the Fatherland Front at all levels in the commune, the people of Phu Ho have played a leading role in building new rural areas. Widened, paved, and well-maintained roads, along with street lighting systems and public works, have been built through the voluntary contributions of the people, covering all hamlets and villages.
In 2025, the people of Su Lo village contributed nearly 500 million VND to renovate and repair the village's community center and build new toilets within the premises; they also donated over 600 square meters of land to expand the inter-village and inter-hamlet road. In Xuan O village, the people also contributed 300 million VND to build a meeting hall; and 200 million VND to build a 4km long lighting system...
A genuine smile bloomed on his resolute face as Mr. Doan Ngoc Phu, Head of the Fatherland Front Committee of Su Lo village, who has led and coordinated the mobilization efforts and received billions of dong in contributions from the people over the past ten years, shared his thoughts: "To gain the people's trust and understanding, we must 'eat together, live together, and work together,' thoroughly understanding the situation of the residents and the circumstances of each household, finding flexible and reasonable solutions; listening to and understanding the thoughts and aspirations of the people, and putting the interests of the people and the community above all else."
I remember the day I accompanied Mr. Ho Van Linh, Head of the Fatherland Front Committee of Xuan O village, to the famous land of delicious yellow-fleshed sweet potatoes in Phu Xuan commune, Phu Vang district (now Phu Ho commune). It made me even more deeply appreciate the responsibility and dedication of the "unity leaders" of Phu Ho. Despite the scorching sun, the head of the Fatherland Front Committee walked tirelessly from the sweet potato fields to the watermelon and rice fields, inspecting and examining the crops to make practical and accurate suggestions, helping the people cultivate their land more easily and improve their economic efficiency.
While walking along the transportation and irrigation system in this production area, Mr. Linh said that this project was supported by the village. He himself had closely coordinated with the Party branch secretary and the village head to mobilize benefactors and raise funds for construction. “Recently, Comrade Nguyen Van Chinh, Chairman of the Phu Ho Commune People's Committee, came to survey the area, and I also suggested to the government to plan each zone, avoiding intercropping rice and melons, and completely overcoming the fragmented farming situation. The village is currently holding meetings with the people, propagating and mobilizing them to exchange land and register to plant rice or other crops according to their needs and wishes. If it brings benefits to the people and the community, we are determined to implement it,” Mr. Linh said.
With dedication, responsibility, and a commitment to the people's interests, the village heads of the Fatherland Front Committees have joined forces with the commune's Fatherland Front Committee and the local Party committee and government to create a solid "support system" for the people in the area. Thanks to this, disadvantaged households, those living alone, the sick, and vulnerable individuals receive timely support and assistance.
