Homestay… but with “hotel standards”
This is the story shared by Nguyen Hien Trang (born in 1990), the owner of SeaMee House. Having a stable office job, Trang "took a risk" and switched to the homestay business. Explaining this unexpected move, Trang shared that, having a passion for travel , she realized that Quang Tri still lacked homestays with unique characteristics and styles. Especially after personally surveying and experiencing many homestays in the area, she decided to pursue this venture.

SeaMee House is located not far from Bao Ninh beach and features 9 well-invested and meticulously designed rooms. Each room is equipped with "hotel-standard" amenities, from blankets, pillows, and bed linens to wardrobes, tables, and other essential items, ensuring cleanliness, tidiness, and minimizing any unpleasant experiences for guests.
Currently undergoing final preparations before its grand opening, Hien Trang is actively receiving feedback to improve the quality of the homestay before it begins operation. “Besides affordability, what tourists are most concerned about when choosing a homestay is cleanliness, freedom from insects, and a comfortable, home-like atmosphere. Therefore, SeaMee House is designed with open-plan common areas, such as a swimming pool, kitchen, and dining area, allowing guests to use them freely and enjoy diverse experiences during their stay,” Hien Trang added.
Like Hien Trang, Tran Van Hoang (born in 1996) chose to return to his hometown to start a business after nearly 10 years living in Hanoi . As a designer with the opportunity to travel extensively and experience various accommodations across the country, Hoang chose a youthful, trendy style for Coc Coc Homestay, primarily targeting young customers who enjoy travel experiences at reasonable prices.
Cốc Cốc Homestay officially launched in the summer of 2025 and is ready to "catch the tourism wave," as confidently stated by its young owner. Being a designer, Hoàng meticulously curates every impressive "Instagrammable" corner of the homestay and constantly updates it, ensuring that guests returning a second time still find it fresh and want to stay again; they also actively recommend it to friends and family.
Prioritizing "hotel standards," Cốc Cốc Homestay elevates the guest experience with a swimming pool, a spacious garden for outdoor activities, and clean, tidy rooms. "Our top priority is cleanliness and ensuring the comfort and relaxation of our guests. To offer more choices, the homestay has various room types and price ranges; every room has a balcony, creating an open and airy space. A special feature is that the homestay is located in the Đức Ninh area of Đồng Hới ward, not right by the beach but close to nature, and the locals are friendly and hospitable," Hoàng added.
In fact, in recent times, many "new generation" homestays have been launched, offering a completely new look compared to traditional homestays. Beyond simply providing accommodation for tourists, this new chain of homestays offers "hotel-standard" service, meeting requirements for cleanliness, tidiness, and a rich, diverse experience, all at very reasonable prices.
Therefore, even though it's only the beginning of summer, most homestays have very high occupancy rates, with rooms scarce on weekends and during the peak summer season. This is a positive sign for upgrading accommodation facilities in Quang Tri , preparing to welcome the upcoming tourism boom.

Turn disadvantages into advantages!
One of the main concerns for homestay owners in Quang Tri is the seasonality of tourism. During peak season, occupancy rates reach 100%, with bookings made months in advance, especially for those renting "all-inclusive" packages. However, this only lasts for a few months, with much of the year being off-peak, resulting in wasted accommodation resources. Some homestays lack convenient locations, such as those far from the beach or town center, adding to the challenge of attracting repeat customers. Furthermore, there's the difficulty of a shortage of professional labor, particularly during peak tourist seasons. These concerns are being thoroughly addressed by the "new generation" of homestay owners.
Mr. Tran Nhat Binh, owner of Green Diamond Homestay (Dong Thuan Ward), chose to operate a homestay on the second floor and a cafe on the first floor simultaneously to address concerns about seasonal tourism. Mr. Binh shared that although the homestay only has three rooms, it is designed with many amenities, maximizing functionality, and prioritizing cleanliness. When choosing the former Loc Ninh commune, now Dong Thuan Ward, to build the homestay, he faced much discouragement due to its unfavorable location and difficulty in attracting guests. However, reality has proven the correctness of this choice, as more guests have come, especially foreign tourists who are quite fond of it.
Located far from the city center, the homestay offers a breezy, nature-friendly environment with a peaceful countryside view in front. A nearby cafe provides convenient entertainment for guests and also serves as a business opportunity during the off-season. This is in addition to the effectively utilized green spaces in the design, including a swimming pool and other green areas both inside and outside the homestay. Besides this homestay, he has also expanded to include a villa for rent nearby to cater to a wider range of guest needs, especially families.

As for Tran Van Hoang, the owner of Coc Coc Homestay, he maximizes the advantages of digital transformation to operate his accommodation. Hoang primarily promotes and introduces his homestay through social media platforms, mainly TikTok, attracting a large number of young people who love to travel.
Hoang actively chose accommodation management applications to provide the utmost convenience for customers during check-in and check-out, as well as receiving feedback. Therefore, Hoang can operate the homestay alone without needing additional staff, except for the cleaning and housekeeping departments. Building on this success, in early summer 2026, the second branch of Cốc Cốc Homestay, with 10 rooms, was opened and is also operated by Hoang himself. In addition, Hoang still has time to continue pursuing his passion for design with other projects.
These "new generation" homestays are increasingly contributing to upgrading the quality of accommodation facilities in the province, offering many new and attractive experiences and attracting tourists to return. Homestay owners hope that the province's tourism infrastructure and human resources will continue to be invested in, improving quality and developing distinctive and outstanding tourism products, including night tourism. In particular, promoting local culture and creating in-depth experiences is considered a crucial step to give homestays a key advantage in attracting customers.
