Love at the 'stopping points'

Thach Ngoc Hai, a third-year student in the Faculty of Culture, Tourism and Social Work at Dong Thap University, is wholeheartedly dedicated to social work activities. Most notably, his "Project for Children" is divided into several different "stations." Born into a family lacking the love and support of both parents, Ngoc Hai developed independence early on, working part-time while studying to cover his tuition and living expenses. Yet, this student always manages to balance his studies and community service effectively.

Having studied social work and deeply empathizing with the hardships faced by students in remote areas, Ngoc Hai, after a long period of planning, founded the "Project for Children" on June 1, 2023. This social activity aims to connect the hearts of youth union members, students, and philanthropists from near and far to jointly organize playgrounds for children and donate gifts to disadvantaged, orphaned, and disabled children.

Ngoc Hai said: “The project for me is implemented using a 'station' model, with each 'station' organizing activities suitable to the reality of each locality. Every month, we will plan, survey, mobilize, and implement 2 to 4 'stations' in the southwestern border region, remote areas in Dong Thap , and neighboring provinces.”

Over a year of implementation, with guidance from the Faculty, Ngoc Hai and the members of the Project have organized 32 "stations" for more than 2000 students, with a total value of over 900 million VND.

With a passion for social work and consistently excellent academic and personal development scores, Ngoc Hai was honored to receive the Nguyen Thi Oanh Scholarship, awarded to outstanding social work students. Hai has shown that, regardless of one's background, with the will and heart to serve the community, we can create positive values ​​for society.
