The mark of a program
Despite the torrential rain, on the morning of May 10th, a large number of teachers and students from Lac An Secondary School (Bac Tan Uyen district) arrived early in their neat uniforms to prepare for the inauguration and handover ceremony of the school building and the awarding of scholarships under the "Lighting Up Hope - Overcoming Difficulties to Go to School" program. The program was organized by Saigon Giai Phong Newspaper in collaboration with the People's Committee of Bac Tan Uyen district, Giang Nam Logistics Joint Stock Company, and Thien Hanh Investment Joint Stock Company.
The construction of an additional block of 6 classrooms for Lac An Secondary School was sponsored by Giang Nam Logistics Joint Stock Company through the "Lighting Up Hope - Overcoming Difficulties to Go to School" program, a initiative spearheaded by the Saigon Giai Phong Newspaper. Seeing the spacious, brightly painted classrooms, Vu Ngoc Thu, a student in class 9B, exclaimed, "The classrooms are so beautiful! The desks and chairs are brand new, and they're fully equipped for us to study in!"
Sharing his thoughts on the project, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Hai, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Giang Nam Logistics Joint Stock Company, said: “Nearly a year ago, in the solemn atmosphere of the groundbreaking ceremony, we shared our hope that the project would be completed soon to provide a better learning environment for the students. The project is designed with one ground floor and two upper floors, with a total construction area of 1,096 square meters, creating a block of 6 classrooms along with other related items, with a total value of 15 billion VND; of which, the sponsoring unit contributed 8.6 billion VND, and the rest is public investment capital from the district. With all our hearts, we hope that the students will increasingly improve their studies and confidently move forward on their educational path.”
Through the program "Lighting Up Hope - Overcoming Difficulties to Go to School," in response to the call from Saigon Giai Phong Newspaper, Thien Hanh Investment Joint Stock Company awarded 50 scholarships (1 million VND/scholarship) to students from disadvantaged backgrounds; and also sponsored 10 TVs to support the school's teaching and learning activities. The total value of the sponsorships is 200 million VND.
We appreciate all contributions.
Respectfully acknowledging the kindness, concern, and contributions of individuals and organizations to the development of the local education sector in general and Lac An Secondary School in particular, the People's Committee of Bac Tan Uyen District awarded certificates of merit and letters of thanks to the sponsoring individuals and organizations. In particular, Mr. Tang Huu Phong, Deputy Head of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee and former Editor-in-Chief of Saigon Giai Phong Newspaper, who played a key role in connecting and mobilizing support, stated that promoting the spirit of community service and building more spacious and well-equipped schools aims to further inspire aspiration for learning, motivate educators, and confidently guide them on the path of knowledge.
Ms. Bui Thi Hong Suong, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Saigon Giai Phong Newspaper, shared that the "Lighting Up Hope - Overcoming Difficulties to Go to School" program, initiated and organized by Saigon Giai Phong Newspaper since March 2023, has raised over 28 billion VND. The program is currently being continuously implemented in Binh Dinh, Lang Son, Ha Tinh , and many other localities nationwide.
“In the coming time, within the framework of the program “Lighting up hope - Overcoming difficulties to go to school”, in addition to the planned activities, Saigon Giai Phong Newspaper will continue to launch and call for donations of “warm clothes for children”, helping to take care of children's health and contributing to helping them go to school,” added Ms. Bui Thi Hong Suong.
Mr. Tran Van Phuong, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Bac Tan Uyen District, said that Lac An Secondary School has a long tradition and is one of the bright spots in the district's education sector. However, in recent years, the school's facilities have been limited and have not fully met the increasing learning needs of local children. Facing these difficulties, with the attention of provincial and district leaders, and especially the support and contributions of the business community inside and outside the district, the construction of six new classrooms at Lac An Secondary School has been completed. This project demonstrates the collective effort and responsibility of the entire society towards education, contributing to improving the quality of education throughout Binh Duong province in general and Bac Tan Uyen district in particular. |
