Ninh Thuan - a land bathed in brilliant golden sunshine.

HeritageHeritage21/05/2024

Not as bustling as Nha Trang, nor as famous as Phan Thiet beach, Ninh Thuan welcomes visitors from afar with its pristine, somewhat harsh, yet very hospitable beauty. As the driest region in the country, this land of wind, sun, and blue sea displays captivating beauty and, of course, is a prize-winning destination for photographers. Ninh Thuan contains the rugged edges of nature, as fierce as the proverb "The wind is like a whip, the sun is like a roaster" that the people of Phan Rang jokingly use to describe their homeland. But that's how the Nam Cuong sand dunes formed next to the city, where every night the wind erases human footprints to draw winding sand trenches. The sand seems to burn under the sun; no plants can survive on it except for thorny cacti, but it provides a very interesting backdrop for photographers. The Bau Truc pottery village and the My Nghiep weaving village, preserving their ancestral crafts for hundreds of years, are charming features that add a unique touch to this region. Leaving the traditional craft villages, tourists heading to Vinh Hy beach and then to Nui Chua National Park will clearly feel the unspoiled beauty of the landscape. The sea is a deep, clear blue, allowing you to see schools of fish swimming beneath the glass boat's bottom. Unlike Nha Trang, which has developed tourism technology, Vinh Hy Bay only has a fleet of small boats to take tourists on leisurely boat trips, admire the jagged rocky cliffs jutting out into the sea, and visit floating fish farms to enjoy fresh seafood. Some calm areas are ideal for swimming and snorkeling, but there are no reputable scuba diving facilities here, which is quite a shame.
Vinh Hy boasts crystal-clear, deep turquoise waters. The vast expanse of space is captivating, drawing in those who embrace the pristine wilderness and fall in love with the sky and sea of this place.
Cultural features are also a highlight of this region, with the unique Cham towers, considered among the best in Central Vietnam, and spectacular artistic performances. Standing majestically in the sunlight, the Po Klong Grai Tower displays its exquisite beauty, impressing visitors with its artistic details and the creations of folk artisans. It would be wonderful to attend a performance by the local performing arts group, featuring ancient music and dances. As dusk falls, the most romantic scene would be an old artist playing the Sarnai horn and rhythmically beating the Paranung drum at the foot of the tower in the setting sun.
It would be a great oversight to miss the vineyards, where visitors can admire the grapevines laden with fruit, sample drinks made from grapes, and visit Hang Rai, a unique scenic spot with its jagged rock formations, where photographers still arrive before dusk to take long-exposure shots of water overflowing onto a carpet of green moss in the dawn light.
