At around 8 PM, two young men on a motorbike without license plates, carrying a gun and a can of pepper spray, stormed into the Duc Nam gold shop in Dong Gia town, Dong Cam commune, Kim Thanh district. While one of them used a hammer to smash the glass display case and steal the gold, the other threatened the shop owner with the gun.
Upon discovering the robbery, the shop owner's son, Nguyen Dang Ninh, the police chief of Tuan Viet commune, Kim Thanh district, rushed out of the house to disarm one of the robbers, but was shot in the stomach and arm by the other.
Both robbers then grabbed the gold and ran away, leaving their motorbike behind.

Mr. Ninh is currently receiving emergency treatment at Viet Tiep Friendship Hospital in Hai Phong City. Kim Thanh District Police are organizing a manhunt for the perpetrator and conducting a crime scene investigation.
The Duc Nam gold shop is located on Provincial Road 188, on the border with Hai Phong City. At the time of the robbery, it was raining lightly and there was little traffic on the road.
