Tet bonus

The previous amount was between 1 and 2 million VND. This year, however, the amount could double thanks to Decree 73.

"According to the content of the teachers' meeting announced by the school administration, this year most teachers were rated excellent or good, receiving around 5-6 million VND, while those who completed their tasks received slightly less than that," this teacher said.

Many other schools also apply a similar bonus distribution method, but with different coefficients. Khuong Thuong Secondary School (Hanoi) expects each teacher to receive approximately 4 to over 5 million VND.

"Last year, the total Tet bonus received ranged from 15-20 million VND per teacher. We teachers hope that with this first bonus under Decree 73, the total amount received will be higher," said a teacher from Khuong Thuong school.

Ms. Do Thi Tinh, a computer science teacher in the Hoai Duc area of ​​Hanoi, shared that teachers at her school are currently hoping for a higher bonus under Decree 73.

“I heard that the school administration has developed a bonus distribution plan. According to this plan, those who complete their tasks receive a coefficient of 0.9, those who complete them well receive 1, and those who complete them excellently receive 1.2. So this year, each teacher could receive between 2.5 and 6 million VND,” Ms. Tinh said.

Phenikaa School will pay its teachers a Tet bonus equivalent to one month's 13th-month salary. Therefore, the bonus for teachers will range from 5 to over 10 million VND, depending on the teacher.

A teacher from Archimedes School shared that the Tet bonus for the school's staff and teachers will be based on performance evaluations at the levels of excellent, good, and satisfactory, similar to previous years.

Specifically, teachers who achieve excellent performance will receive a full month's salary as a bonus. Those who achieve good performance will receive the equivalent of 70% of their 13th-month salary, while those who achieve satisfactory performance will only receive half of their basic monthly salary.

Therefore, the bonus for teachers at the school will depend on their position and level of job performance. The bonus ranges from 12 million to approximately 20 million VND.

A teacher who has worked for over 20 years at a high school in Ha Tinh shared that for the past few years, the total amount received during the Lunar New Year holiday has only been around 1.8 million VND: "We teachers hope that this year we will receive more so that we have money to prepare for Tet."

Several universities and high schools across the country have announced their Lunar New Year bonuses for the year 2025 (Year of the Snake). Some schools are awarding tens of millions of dong, while other public schools are offering only a few million dong.
